Article Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to assess the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of traditional and modified triple antibiotic paste. The 16S rDNA was employed to analyse the root canal microbial community's characteristics pre- and post-treatment.

Methods: Rabbits with periapical inflammation (AP) were treated with both pastes. Micro-CT was performed to compare the periapical lesion area, followed by HE staining. Inflammatory factors and microorganism were collected for analysis. T-tests and ANOVA were used to analyse the effects of the 2 pastes on tooth discoloration.

Results: Compared with the control group, apical lesions and the expression of inflammatory cytokines was decreased, along with a reduction in bone destruction. Antibacterial experiments showed that the 2 antibiotics had similar effects on the common pathogens of AP. Compared with the TAP, mTAP does not cause discoloration of teeth. 16Sr DNA analysis revealed variations in periapical bacteria composition. The contents of common pathogens of AP in TAP and mTAP groups were lower than those in control group.

Conclusions: Azithromycin has the potential to serve as an alternative to minocycline. The 16S rDNA data highlights the intricate nature of the root canal microbiome, promising deeper insights into the correlation between microbes and inflammation.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and underlying mechanism of advanced optimal pulse technology intense pulsed light (AOPT) in low-energy triple-pulse long-width mode (AOPT-LTL) for melasma treatment.

Methods: An in vivo guinea pig model of melasma was established through progesterone injection and ultraviolet B radiation. Three sessions of AOPT-LTL treatment were performed weekly.

Background & Aims: Sucralose consumption has been associated with a reduction in insulin sensitivity, potentially through changes in gut microbiota, induction of low-grade inflammation and other pathophysiologic mechanisms, thus the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of sucralose consumption on glucose tolerance, insulin sensitivity, postprandial glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), gut microbiota composition, Curli protein, and related metabolites.

Methods: Randomized placebo-controlled triple blind trial including healthy lean individuals assigned to consume 30% of the sucralose acceptable daily intake or placebo for 30 days. A mixed meal tolerance test (MMTT) was performed before and after intervention to evaluate the postprandial changes in the main outcomes.

In this study, a modified QuEChERS method for the simultaneous determination of 73 pesticides, 23 PCBs and 16 PAHs in wheat was developed by gas chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). The sample was first hydrated with 4 mL of ultrapure water, extracted with 10 mL of acetone-hexane (1 : 1, V:V), and then cleaned up with a mixture of 50 mg of PSA, 150 mg of C18, and 400 mg of anhydrous MgSO. Under the optimized conditions, the samples were analyzed by GC-MS/MS for quantitative analysis using the matrix-matched external standard method.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation combined with ozone injection versus the same dual therapy with additional collagenase for cervical disc herniation (CDH).

Methods: A prospective RCT enrolled 90 eligible CDH patients (30-80 years, single-level protrusion ≤ 1/3 spinal canal) at a tertiary hospital, randomizing them to a study group (n = 45, triple therapy) or control group (n = 45, low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation + ozone). Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scores were compared preoperatively and at 1 week, 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively, with efficacy assessed via Modified MacNab Criteria.

Introduction: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a serine protease primarily expressed in the prostate, has also been detected in hormonally regulated female tissues, including the breast. Some studies suggest a correlation between increased levels of circulating free PSA (fPSA) and breast cancer, but its role remains debated. This study aimed to evaluate this association while minimizing hormonal confounding factors.
