Article Abstract

Compounds exhibiting aggregation-induced emission (AIE) are remarkable due to their characteristic restriction of intramolecular rotation, making them highly versatile for a wide range of applications. Herein, an isophorone based probe (IHP) was developed for the detection of peroxynitrite (ONOO) using the C[double bond, length as m-dash]N as the reactive group. Photophysical investigations were conducted to explore the aggregation behaviour of IHP in two different solvent systems: DMSO:PBS and DMSO. In DMSO, only the monomeric form of the dye was observed, showing no unusual behaviour. However, in DMSO : PBS (1 : 1), multiple emitting species were detected, indicating the coexistence of dye aggregates and monomers. The fluorescence spectra exhibited wavelength-dependent changes, with the aggregates displaying a red-shift compared to the monomers, indicating J-aggregation. The AIE properties of IHP resulted in red emission, with a fluorescence response towards ONOO through oxidative cleavage of the C[double bond, length as m-dash]N bond to an aldehyde accompanied by the shift in emission maximum. Under physiological conditions, the probe exhibited good selectivity and high sensitivity to ONOO, low detection limit of 1.1 μM and rapid recognition within 200 seconds. Furthermore, the probe was effectively used to image exogenous and endogenous peroxynitrite in living cells.

Caliciopsis pinea is the ascomycete plant pathogen that causes caliciopsis canker disease on North American Pinus strobus (eastern white pine). Infections result in downgrading of lumber due to canker formation and overall loss of vigor in P. strobus, which is a critical cover species throughout its native range.

Background: PPM1D (protein phosphatase Mg⁺/Mn⁺ dependent 1D) is a Ser/Thr phosphatase that negatively regulates p53 and functions as an oncogenic driver. Its gene amplification and overexpression are frequently observed in various malignancies and disruption of PPM1D degradation has also been reported as a cause of cancer progression. However, the precise mechanisms regulating PPM1D stability remain to be elucidated.

Background: T follicular helper (TFH) cell lymphoma is complex, and we hope to provide a new perspective for its diagnosis.

Methods: We analysed the immunophenotypes of 89 mature T-cell lymphomas, including 52 nodal lymphomas of TFH origin, as well as 32 benign lymph node samples and 30 healthy bone marrow samples, by flow cytometry (FCM).

Results: Among pan-T cell markers, CD4CD5CD3 is the typical pattern that distinguishes TFH lymphoma from other T-cell lymphomas.

Individuals who are superior at face recognition are described as 'super recognisers' (SRs). On standard face recognition tasks SRs outperform individuals who have typical face recognition ability. However, high accuracy on face recognition tasks may be driven by superior ability in one or more of several component processes including face perception, face matching, and face memory.

Synthetic dyes, such as Congo red (CR), pose serious threats to human health and aquatic ecosystems because of their carcinogenicity and resistance to degradation, necessitating the development of efficient and eco-friendly remediation strategies. In this study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized via a green method using Ocimum sanctum (holy basil) leaf extract and applied for CR dye removal from aqueous solutions. The adsorption process was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) based on Box-Behnken design (BBD), evaluating the influence of key parameters including pH, AgNP dosage, initial dye concentration, contact time, and temperature.
