Distraction osteogenesis (DO) is an endogenous bone tissue engineering technique that harnesses the regenerative potential of bone and has been widely applied in limb lengthening, bone defect repair, and craniofacial reconstruction. The DO procedure consists of three distinct phases: the latency phase, the distraction phase, and the consolidation phase, each characterized by unique biological processes. In recent years, increasing attention has been directed toward the role of the immune system during DO.

The advancement of science and technology is an undeniable phenomenon that is progressively transforming all aspects of human life, including scientific, social, humanitarian, and environmental fields, among others. Facial reconstruction surgery has recently gained much attention owing to the incorporation of new technologies, such as bioprinting, regenerative medicine (RM), and artificial intelligence (AI) in surgery. These advancements have led to more innovative, site-specific, and optimal methods of addressing the challenges of facial reconstruction following trauma, congenital malformations, and oncological resections.

Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), a widely used flame retardant in textiles and electronics, poses toxicological risks through both environmental and indoor exposures. Biomonitoring studies have detected significant TBBPA levels in prenatal environments, including cord blood, raising concerns about developmental impacts. Using zebrafish as a model, this study addresses critical gaps in understanding how developmental TBBPA exposures perturb regulatory pathways that govern dorsoventral patterning.

Background: There remains significant uncertainty about the fistula rate following palate repair with the Furlow double opposing Z-plasty (Furlow) technique compared to a straight-line mucosal incision with intravelar veloplasty (straight-line/IVVP) technique. Moreover, the relative impact of technique and surgical skill on fistula incidence remains unclear.
Methods: A prospective, observational study of cleft palate repair was conducted.

Aim: Prickle planar cell polarity (PCP) protein 2 (Prickle2) encodes a homologue of Drosophila prickle and is involved in the non-canonical Wnt/PCP signalling pathway. However, its exact role in dentinogenesis remains unclear. Dentinogenesis, a key process in tooth morphogenesis, involves the patterned arrangement of odontoblasts and the formation of dentine matrix along the pulp cavity.
