Pollution can have lasting effects beyond the exposure period, potentially impacting multiple generations. Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants are widespread, including in oceans, yet their multigenerational impacts remain poorly understood. We investigated whether BDE-99, a ubiquitous PBDE, induces neurobehavioral and molecular effects across generations in the fish .

Objective: Androgens have been prescribed to alleviate symptoms in midlife women, but evidence regarding benefits and risks remains limited, with no clearly established indications for Testosterone therapy. In many Latin American countries, Testosterone is prescribed without specific guidelines, making it difficult to identify patients who might benefit. This position statement aims to summarize evidence and provide a Latin American perspective on androgen therapy in midlife and older women.

Dexmedetomidine (DEX) has been proposed as an opioid-sparing adjunct after spinal fusion, but its efficacy across age groups is unclear. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis following PRISMA and registered in International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) (CRD42024531252). Twelve studies (RCTs and cohorts; n=1,644) were included.

Hypogonadism, characterized by low testosterone blood levels, affects 3%-5% of males worldwide. Oral testosterone undecanoate (TU) is emerging as a key route of administration due to its better ease of administration; however, it suffers from variable pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. The variability is majorly attributed to intestinal glucuronidation of testosterone to its hydrophilic metabolite, testosterone glucuronide (TG), formed by the polymorphic uridine 5'-diphospho-glucuronosyltransferase 2B17 (UGT2B17).

Introduction: Autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of the thyroid gland and elevated specific antibodies. Its incidence rises annually, yet no standardized animal model fully mimics human AIT. Given unclear pathogenesis and lack of targeted immunotherapies, researchers invest significant time in developing suitable models.
