Article Abstract

Active vibration control in flexible structures remains a critical challenge in engineering applications. This study proposes an optimization framework for piezoelectric sensor and actuator configurations in cantilever beams using a genetic algorithm. An objective function based on controllability and observability criteria was formulated, integrating modal strain and natural frequency analyses. A small-habitat genetic algorithm was employed to determine optimal sensor/actuator positions, validated through frequency- and time-domain simulations. Comparative experiments with three alternative control methods demonstrated improved vibration suppression, achieving amplitude rejection rates as low as 1.2% under random and sinusoidal excitations. The method was further extended to a vehicle suspension model, where the proposed system achieved near-zero suspension dynamic travel under step inputs, outperforming the other three control methods in terms of vibration suppression effectiveness. Results highlight the framework's adaptability for enhancing structural resilience in aerospace, automotive, and robotic systems, providing a systematic approach for optimizing smart material configurations in vibration-sensitive applications.

While the flow-induced vibration (FIV) of harbor seal whisker models has been extensively studied, their response to unsteady wakes generated by upstream moving bodies remains poorly understood. Purpose: To investigate the role of personal risk factors in the occurrence of the vascular, neurological and fibroproliferative disorders of the hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) in workers groups exposed to hand-transmitted vibration (HTV).

Methods: HAVS prevalence and incidence data were pooled across a series of cross-sectional studies (total sample: 1272 HTV workers, 579 controls) and prospective cohort studies (total sample: 377 HTV workers, 138 controls) conducted in Central and North-Eastern Italy. The pooled studies included detailed individual-level information about HTV exposure, personal risk factors, medical comorbidities and HAVS disorders.

With the progress of study, MoS has been proven to show excellent properties in electronics and optoelectronics, which promotes the fabrication of future novel integrated circuits and photodetectors. However, highly uniform wafer-scale growth is still in its early stage, especially regarding how to control the precursor and its distribution. Herein, we propose a new method, spraying the Mo precursor, which is proven to fabricate highly uniform 2-inch monolayer MoS wafers.
