Congenital malformations constitute a major public health issue. Nonetheless, Greece does not participate in the European network of congenital anomalies. To examine the epidemiology of congenital abnormalities and investigate possible factors associated with their development, autopsies were performed on 649 fetuses referred from three healthcare facilities in Thessaloniki during 1992-2008. Adequate statistical analysis methods were implemented. Birth defects were found in 256 fetuses (39.5%)-primarily related to the musculoskeletal (17.3%), nervous (14.5%), cardiovascular (12.5%) and urinary (10.4%) systems. A statistically significant positive correlation (-values < 0.05) emerged between the presence of a congenital defect and intrauterine growth restriction, inability to identify the fetus' sex, iatrogenic abortion, nuchal oedema and a single umbilical artery. An inverse association (-values < 0.05) was deduced with the gestational age, twin pregnancy, stillbirth, chorioamnionitis, infarction and intervillous thrombus of the placenta and nuchal cord. In multivariable analysis, the relationship remained significant (-values < 0.05) between the development of birth defects and iatrogenic abortion, nuchal oedema, presence of a single umbilical artery, chorioamnionitis, infarction of the placenta and nuchal cord. ROC curve analysis indicated area under the curve = 0.800, 95% confidence interval = 0.76-0.84, -value = 0.000. Our study revealed the epidemiology of congenital anomalies in Greece, confirming the relationship between various factors and birth defect occurrence.

Objective: The cachexia index (CXI) demonstrates potential as both a diagnostic tool for cachexia and a prognostic tool for survival in cancer. However, CXI's predictive value has not been verified in cervical cancer. The purpose of this study is to investigate the prognostic value of the CXI in patients with cervical cancer treated with radiotherapy.

Objective: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a complex autoimmune connective tissue disease. Genetic factors may play a pivotal role in determining susceptibility to these disorders. HLA associations with SSc, especially HLA class II, were investigated in different populations but not in Tunisia.

Nevertheless, the relationship between these electrocardiographic (ECG) measurements and mechanical synchrony remains poorly understood.
Objective: We aimed to analyze the association between electrical parameters from the paced QRS complex and mechanical performance assessed through 2D strain and myocardial work (MW) indices, following LBBAP implantation.

Objective: To develop a score (Palineo score) to identify the palliative care needs of newborn patients admitted to a Brazilian neonatal intensive care unit of a tertiary maternity hospital that serves as a reference center for high-risk pregnancies, ensuring timely follow-up by a specialist.
Methods: Patients were assessed by three specialists using a questionnaire that included the same clinical elements as those used for the Palineo score but did not assign scores to the criteria. The score was determined by the consensus reached by the specialists.

Purpose: This research aimed to investigate the association between neutrophil-percentage-to-albumin ratio (NPAR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI) with disease severity in patients diagnosed with acute myocarditis.
Methods: A total of 185 patients were diagnosed with acute myocarditis at the First Hospital of Jilin University between 2018 and 2024. The related values of NPAR, SII, SIRI, and AISI were computed based on the pertinent blood indices that were acquired within 12 hours of admission.
