Article Abstract

Candida albicans causes systemic infections with 20-50% mortality in critically ill and immunocompromised patients, despite antifungal treatment. Current therapies face limitations, including toxicity and resistance, underscoring the need for prophylactic vaccines. This study presents a novel divalent liposomal vaccine, delivering C. albicans Cht3 and Sap2 antigens. Vaccination induced protective Th1/Th17 immunity, a balanced Th1/Th2 ratio, antigen-specific antibodies, and boosted macrophage activity, improving survival in a mouse model of invasive candidiasis.

Background And Purpose: Predicting the food effect on oral drug absorption by physiologically based biopharmaceutical modelling (PBBM) remains challenging. The bile micelle unbound fraction ( ) is one of the primary determinants of the negative food effect for high solubility drugs. To calculate the pH- profile for PBBM, the bile micelle partition coefficients of ionized and un-ionized drug species ( , : charge) are required.

This study explores the potential of 18-crown-6 ether to enhance liposomal integrity in biological media. A novel 1,2-Dipalmitoyl--glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DPPE)-crown ether conjugate was synthesized and incorporated into phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol liposomes at varying concentrations (0.5-8 mol%).

Resilient Membranized Coacervates Formed through Spontaneous Wrapping of Heat-Destabilized Lipid Bilayers around Coacervate Droplets.

Membranes and the membraneless biocondensates help organize cells and work synergistically to drive cellular processes. Separately, membrane-bound and membraneless compartments face difficulties as stable protocells or synthetic cell systems. Here, we present a new method to create membranized coacervates (MCs) for coacervates with any surface charge and a wide range of phospholipid membrane compositions.

siRNA-based therapy is a new approach for the treatment of diseases, including cancer, viral infections, and so forth. When liposomes serve as an effective siRNA carrier, unveiling the siRNA-liposome interaction mechanism becomes extremely significant for siRNA-based therapy. Here, we investigate the interactions between siRNA and liposomes with different types of lipid molecules and find that the stable adsorption of siRNA on the phosphoethanolamine (PE) bilayer liposome mainly relies on hydrogen bonding between the siRNA phosphate groups and the ethanolamine structure of PE lipid molecules.
