In recent years, passive thermal management systems have emerged as an essential energy-saving strategy to mitigate carbon emissions. However, traditional heat management approaches, such as photothermal devices and radiative coolers, often face application limitations due to their complex construction, aesthetic constraints, and inability to adapt to diverse architectural requirements. This study proposes a colored thermal engineering glass fabricated through a simple annealing process, where Ag nanoparticles are formed on a TiO film and an Ag layer. The structure of Ag layers can be easily controlled by adjusting the annealing temperature, allowing for systematic tuning of the optical efficiencies in the visible and long-wave infrared regions. Consequently, thermal management devices can selectively function as either a photothermal heater or a radiative cooler, depending on the morphology of Ag layers. In particular, the photothermal device can function as an anti-fogging solution for structural designs without requiring external energy. Furthermore, the stacked metal-insulator-metal structure induces plasmonic resonance phenomena, producing visible colors that range from vivid to dull hues. The tunable color variations enhance the suitability of the thermal management device for a wide range of architectural applications.

Diffusion is a fundamental process in the transfer of mass and energy. Diffusion metamaterials, a class of engineered materials with distinctive properties, enable precise control and manipulation of diffusion processes. Meanwhile, topology, a branch of mathematics, has attracted growing interest within the condensed matter physics community.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus poses a continuing global public health threat due to its outbreaks in poultry farms and zoonotic transmission from birds to humans. In the quest of effective therapeutics against H5N1 infection, antibodies with broad neutralizing activity have attracted significant attention. In this study, we employed a phage display technique to select and identify VHH antibodies with specific neutralizing activity against H5N1 hemagglutinin (HA) from an immune llama-derived antibody library.

To address the growing demand for temperature control precision and uniformity in wafer processing, a specialized electrostatic chuck temperature control system based on thermal control coatings is proposed, aiming to enhance thermal management robustness and homogeneity. This study employs a zoned control methodology using metal-oxide conductive coatings on silicon carbide wafer heating plates. A quadrant-based thermal control coating model was established, and finite element analysis was conducted to compare temperature distribution characteristics across three geometric configurations: sectorial, spiral, and zoned designs.

Flow fields (FFs) play multifaceted roles in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC) by facilitating the transport and distribution of species, removal of products, support to the membrane electrode assembly (MEA), electrical conductivity, water, and thermal management. Therefore, the performance of DMFC is directly related to the pattern and geometry of the FF. DMFCs can generate power density of up to ≈100-300 mW cm; however, their performance is impeded by cathode flooding, CO gas bubbles formation, and mass transfer limitations.

Unlabelled: Mongolian gerbils had high ability to endure both high and cold temperatures. To study the mechanism of high ability for thermal adaptation, gerbils were acclimated to high temperature (30 °C) for 8 weeks, and were measured for metabolic features, body composition as well as mitochondrial content and activities. Lipidomic techniques were used to measure changes in mitochondrial membrane, including potential mitochondrial membrane remodeling during acute thermoregulation in gerbils.
