The Jammu Region (JR) in the northwestern Himalayas trigged by medium to high magnitude near-field as well as far-field earthquake events, including the most recent 2019 Mirpur earthquake. In this paper, an attempt has been made to develop the zonation map for liquefaction hazard in the JR based on liquefaction potential index ( ) and probability of liquefaction ( ). To achieve this, factor of safety against liquefaction was estimated using standard penetration test (SPT) data collected from geotechnical consultancies and shear wave velocity measured during field testing at 243 locations, and an integrated liquefaction hazard map generated. The liquefaction features such as sand blows and ground rupture were found in Jatah (Samba district) and Simbal (Jammu district). According to the integrated hazard map, places near the bank of Tawi River and Ravi River in Jammu have young alluvium, making them particularly prone to liquefaction. Liquefaction does not occur in the eastern and western sections because of high shear wave velocities and rock at shallow depth, and it also does not occur in the central area due to thick sand deposits. values ranged from 0 to 27.45 having very low to very high liquefaction risk. is greater than 0.75 for sites located on the southwestern side due to uniformly graded soil having extremely low SPT () and values. This study will aid site planners in the construction of structures that consider liquefaction mitigation and well-defined liquefaction risk measures.

This study systematically evaluated the inhibitory effects of model compounds from sludge-derived hydrothermal liquefaction aqueous phase (HTLaq) on anaerobic digestion (AD) at both mesophilic and thermophilic temperatures using a total of 1008 anaerobic toxicity assays (ATA). Twenty representative compounds of suspected inhibitors, including nitrogen-containing heterocyclics like pyridines, pyrrolidinones, and pyrazines, as well as phenols and ketones, were tested at varying dosages (25, 50, 100, 200, 400, and 800 mg/L) to assess their impact on volatile fatty acids (VFA) generation and consumption, methane production, substrate utilization, and inhibitory compound degradation. Results demonstrated that thermophilic AD is generally more susceptible to inhibition than mesophilic AD, both in terms of acute and chronic toxicity.

Wastewater solids management is a key contributor to the operational cost and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs). This study proposes a 'waste-to-energy' strategy using a hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL)-based system to displace conventional energy- and emission-intensive practices. The proposed system directs HTL-produced biocrude to oil refineries and recovers regionally tailored nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers.

Unlabelled: SY21 and SY22 exhibit anti-inflammatory activity; however, their safety has not been evaluated. The suitability as probiotic strains were evaluated by using phenotypic and genotypic analyses. Indole production, urease activity, mucin degradation, bile salt hydrolase activity, β-hemolysis, and gelatin liquefaction activity were not found.

Magnetic refrigeration, utilizing the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in magnetic solids, was considered as a high efficiency cooling technology which can be available in a wide temperature range from cryogenic to room temperature. However, large-scale magnetic refrigeration applications are still in their early stages due to the lack of suitable candidate materials with prominent magnetocaloric performance. This article briefly reviews the research development of rare earth-based magnetocaloric materials that with potential applications for hydrogen liquefaction over the past five years.
