Article Abstract

The purpose of this work was to use molecular docking techniques to examine the chemical makeup and biological activity of the petroleum ether and chloroform extracts (SPEE and CHSE, respectively) of Coffee arabica seeds. According to the GC/MS results of SPEE, the extract contains 28 components, which account for approximately 96% of the total. These substances fall under several categories of phytoconstituents. Nevertheless, the extract contains 28 compounds, which make up 99.1% of the total, according to the CHSE GC/MS data. Alcohols (4.93%) with 2-ethyl-1-hexanol as the primary compound, monoterpenes (3.95%) with 4-ethyl-1-octyn-3-ol accounting for 2.92%, aromatics (2.67%), esters (38.31%) with methyl palmitate as the primary (16.71%), caffeine (28.81%), hydrocarbons (10.85%) with 7-octadecene as the primary compound, and ketones (5.13%) with 2-ethyl-1-cyclohexanone as the primary (3.04%) are among them. Only Bacillus subtilis was susceptible to the modest antibacterial activity of both extracts. Whereas CHSE successfully targeted breast (IC = 146.10 μg/mL) and colon cancer cells (IC = 111.90 μg/mL), SPEE showed strong cytotoxicity against hepatocellular carcinoma (IC = 42.41 μg/mL) and breast cancer cells (IC = 57.76 μg/mL) in anticancer studies.

Nowadays, the recovery of valuable metals from waste mobile phone printed circuit boards (WMPCBs) has attracted significant attention from researchers due to their economic potential. However, improper recycling poses serious risks to both human health and the environment. This study introduces, for the first time, a deep eutectic solvent (DES) as a novel, green, and highly selective carrier within an emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) system for the recovery of gold (Au) from WMPCBs.

The aim of the present study was to assess the anti-inflammatory effect of hesperidin. The research was conducted by optimizing the hesperidin extraction process from citrus peel powder, followed by characterization and nutrition profiling of citrus peel hesperidin extract. Citrus peel was collected from the local market and dried in a hot air oven.

The pyrolysis of polyolefin (PO)-rich mixed plastic waste represents a promising pathway for recycling plastic waste into liquid hydrocarbons, particularly in the naphtha range, for use as a refinery input. However, assessments of naphtha production from complex plastic waste remain limited. This work systematically investigates the batch pyrolysis of a PO-rich mixed plastic waste derived from a sorted household waste stream (DKR-350) using Design of Experiments (DoE) and response surface methodology (RSM).

A sampling device was developed for collecting and size-fractionating airborne particulate matter (PM). A low-volume cascade system with polytetrafluoroethylene membrane filters (PM, PM, and PM) connected to an ultrapure-water trap was used to retain the PM fraction that passed through the filters. In the collected samples, metal(oid)s and platinum group elements (PGEs) were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry after microwave-assisted digestion using a mixture of acids.
