Assessing health parameters is essential for understanding the decline of physiological functions during aging. The nematode Caenorhabditis elegans serves as a powerful model in aging research. This paper introduces representative methods for evaluating health parameters using C. elegans and provides quantitative indicators of functional declines during aging. This manuscript will be useful for researchers unfamiliar with healthspan studies using C. elegans and may help perform physiological experiments for healthy aging.

Purpose: Real‑time magnetic resonance-guided radiation therapy (MRgRT) integrates MRI with a linear accelerator (Linac) for gating and adaptive radiotherapy, which requires robust image‑quality assurance over a large field of view (FOV). Specialized phantoms capable of accommodating this extensive FOV are therefore essential. This study compares the performance of four commercial MRI phantoms on a 0.

Background: Recreational nitrous oxide (NO) abuse has become increasingly prevalent, raising concerns about associated health risks. In Germany, the lack of reliable data on NO consumption patterns limits the development of effective public health interventions. This study aims to address this knowledge gap by examining trends, determinants, and health consequences of NO abuse in Germany.

This study investigated the impact of dietary zeolite supplementation on growth, cecal microbiota and digesta viscosity, digestive enzymes, carcass traits, blood constituents, and antioxidant parameters of broilers. A completely randomized design was used with 240 one-day-old broiler chicks randomly assigned to three dietary treatments (0%, 1.5%, and 3% zeolite as a feed additive) with four replicates of 20 chicks each.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the gender-specific associations of skeletal muscle mass and fat mass with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and NAFLD-related liver fibrosis in two population-based studies.
Methods: Analyses were based on data from the MEGA (n = 238) and the MEIA study (n = 594) conducted between 2018 and 2023 in Augsburg, Germany. Bioelectrical impedance analysis was used to evaluate relative skeletal muscle mass (rSM) and SM index (SMI) as well as relative fat mass (rFM) and FM index (FMI); furthermore, the fat-to-muscle ratio was built.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by motor symptoms altering gait domains such as slow walking speed, reduced step and stride length, and increased double support time. Gait disturbances occur in the early, mild to moderate, and advanced stages of the disease in both backward walking (BW) and forward walking (FW), but are more pronounced in BW. At this point, however, no information is available about BW performance and disease stages specified using the Hoehn and Yahr (H&Y) scale.
