Article Abstract

Non-typhoidal (NTS) is one of the most common causative agents of food poisoning in Vietnam, and contaminated livestock meat poses a major risk to human health. The present study aims to provide the genetic characteristics of NTS with a particular focus on antimicrobial resistance and determine phylogenetic relationships between isolates from different sources in Southern Vietnam based on whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data. A total of 49 NTS isolates from pork/broiler meat, pigs, chickens, and humans were collected in Ho Chi Minh City and four provinces of Southern Vietnam. Phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and WGS for all isolates were performed. : As a result, 14 different serotypes were identified, among which Typhimurium and its monophasic variant were the dominant serotypes for human and pig sources. All chicken samples belonged to . Indiana, whereas . Infantis predominated in broiler meat. AST results revealed that 98% of isolates were multidrug resistant. NTS strains isolated from poultry and pigs exhibited resistance to the highest priority antimicrobials-quinolones and polymyxin, as well as to β-lactams, aminoglycosides, tetracycline, and sulfonamide, which are considered to be critical for the treatment of severe diseases. The results highlight the utmost importance of issues related to the selection, spreading, and transmission of multi-resistant strains from animals to humans.

Sustainable urban development requires actionable insights into the thermal consequences of land transformation. This study examines the impact of land use and land cover (LULC) changes on land surface temperature (LST) in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, between 1998 and 2024. Using Google Earth Engine (GEE), three machine learning algorithms-random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and classification and regression tree (CART)-were applied for LULC classification.

Molecular property prediction has become essential in accelerating advancements in drug discovery and materials science. Graph Neural Networks have recently demonstrated remarkable success in molecular representation learning; however, their broader adoption is impeded by two significant challenges: (1) data scarcity and constrained model generalization due to the expensive and time-consuming task of acquiring labeled data and (2) inadequate initial node and edge features that fail to incorporate comprehensive chemical domain knowledge, notably orbital information. To address these limitations, we introduce a Knowledge-Guided Graph (KGG) framework employing self-supervised learning to pretrain models using orbital-level features in order to mitigate reliance on extensive labeled data sets.

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) remains endemic in several countries across Southeast Asia, China, and Mongolia (SEACFMD region), posing an ongoing threat to livestock and trade. This study aimed to investigate the epidemiological characteristics and analyze the spatial and temporal distribution of FMD outbreaks reported across the SEACFMD region. FMD outbreak and virus lineage data from 2015 to 2023 were utilized.

The yellowfin seabream (), a commercially important marine fish in Vietnam, faces threats from overfishing and habitat degradation and requires a deeper understanding of its genetic structure and evolutionary history for effective conservation. This study investigated the genetic diversity, population structure and demographic history of across three populations in Central Vietnam using mitochondrial control region (mtCR) sequences and multivariate analyses. A total of 125 fish samples were collected between January 2023 and June 2024, with DNA extracted from pectoral fin tissues and amplified for mtCR sequencing.

Marine are prolific producers of diverse bioactive secondary metabolites, making them vital for drug discovery. Traditional cultivation and bioassay-guided isolation techniques often lead to the rediscovery of the same compounds, revealing the limitations of these traditional approaches and emphasizing the need for more advanced methods. The emergence of omics technologies such as genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics has dramatically enhanced the ability to investigate microorganisms by providing detailed insights into their biosynthetic gene clusters, metabolic pathways, and regulatory mechanisms.
