Article Abstract

In this era of hectic lifestyle no one have ample time to take care of their health and generally people miss some nutrients daily. This study has shown that, how to use low price ingredients such as colostrum (unutilized part of dairy farm), flax seed, moringa leaves powder, fresh dates, and gram flour to formulate functional colostrum bar to tackle nutrients deficiency. Optimization process was performed on the basis of sensory attributes, and further functional compounds profiling was done by High Resolution Accurate Mass Spectroscopy, which identified about 980 compounds in total, 60 of which could be positively identified. Phenolic substances, including chlorogenic acid as well as caffeic acid, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, were prominent. The optimized sample (E4) also contained flavonoids with different classes which includes, N-acetyl-α-D-glucosamine (Flavonoid glycosides), Aspalathin, Quercetin 3-O-rhamnoside (flavonoid-3-o-glycosides), glucosiduronic acid, Quercetin (Flavanols), Kaempferol (Flavonols), Luteolin (flavones), Kaempferol 3-O-glucoside-7-O-rhamnoside, Rutin (flavonoid glycoside), Apigenin 6-C-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl-8-C-beta-D-xylopyranoside (flavanone) and Myricetin 3-O-β-D-Galactopyranoside (glycosyloxyflavone). By increasing the utilization of colostrum, possibly improving the socio-economic status of farmers, and providing a health-promoting product that fits with consumer trends towards more sustainable and healthier food options.

Background: A mother's milk is considered the gold standard of nutrition in neonates and is a source of cytokines, immunoglobulins, growth factors, and other important components, yet little is known about the components of canine milk, specifically colostrum, and the knowledge related to its microbial and metabolic profiles is particularly underwhelming. In this study, we characterized canine colostrum and milk microbiota and metabolome for several breeds of dogs and examined profile shifts as milk matures in the first 8 days post-whelping.

Results: Through untargeted metabolomics, we identified 63 named metabolites that were significantly differentially abundant between days 1 and 8 of lactation.

Three bovine rotaviruses A (RVAs) isolated from a cattle farm in Japan were serotyped by serum neutralization assay, as compared with the RVA strains contained in a vaccine used on the same farm. Antisera were prepared against the three isolates and the vaccine strains of bovine RVA. The results of cross-neutralization tests revealed that the RVA isolates from this farm differed somewhat in serotype.

The use of bioactive bovine milk immunoglobulins (Ig) has been found to be an alternative treatment for certain human gastrointestinal diseases. Some methodologies have been developed with bovine colostrum. These are considered in laboratory scale and are bound to high cost and limited availability of the raw material.

Midwives are the main health professional group providing support and assistance to women during the early establishment of breastfeeding. In published accounts of early breastfeeding experiences women report high levels of dissatisfaction with health professional support. To gain an understanding of this dissatisfaction, we examined the way in which midwives represent breastmilk and construct breastfeeding women in their interactions.
