Article Abstract

Critical findings in radiology reports are life threatening conditions that need to be communicated promptly to physicians for timely management of patients. Although challenging, advancements in natural language processing (NLP), particularly large language models (LLMs), now enable the automated identification of key findings from verbose reports. Given the scarcity of labeled critical findings data, we implemented a two-phase, weakly supervised fine-tuning approach on 15,000 unlabeled Mayo Clinic reports. This fine-tuned model then automatically extracted critical terms on internal (Mayo Clinic, n = 80) and external (MIMIC-III, n = 123) test datasets, validated against expert annotations. Model performance was further assessed on 5000 MIMIC-IV reports using LLM-aided metrics, G-eval and Prometheus. Both manual and LLM-based evaluations showed improved task alignment with weak supervision. Centro-parietal electroencephalogram signals (centro-parietal positivity and error positivity) correlate with the reported level of confidence. According to recent computational work these signals reflect evidence which feeds into the computation of confidence, not directly confidence. To test this prediction, we causally manipulated prior beliefs to selectively affect confidence, while leaving objective task performance unaffected.

Importance: Long COVID (ie, post-COVID-19 condition) is a substantial public health concern, and its association with health-related social needs, such as food insecurity, remains poorly understood. Identifying modifiable risk factors like food insecurity and interventions like food assistance programs is critical for reducing the health burden of long COVID.

Objective: To investigate the association of food insecurity with long COVID and to assess the modifying factors of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participation and employment status.

Understanding the intricate relationship between land use/land cover (LULC) transformations and land surface temperature (LST) is critical for sustainable urban planning. This study investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of LULC and LST across Delhi, India, using thermal data from Landsat 7 (2001), Landsat 5 (2011) and Landsat 8 (2021) resampled to 30-m spatial resolution, during the peak summer month of May. The study aims to target three significant aspects: (i) to analyse and present LULC-LST dynamics across Delhi, (ii) to evaluate the implications of LST effects at the district level and (iii) to predict seasonal LST trends in 2041 for North Delhi district using the seasonal auto-regressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) time series model.
