Article Abstract

Diastereoselective construction of organic scaffolds from simple and commercial materials is a powerful strategy in contemporary organic synthesis. Herein, we report a novel disconnection for the direct preparation of tetrahydrofurans (THFs) and corresponding derivatives from acyl chlorides and alkenes using charge relocation. Newly synthesised Hantzsch ester derivatives, functioning both as hydride sources and selectivity modulators, enabled exceptional diastereoselectivity. The wide range of alkenes tolerated is a highlight of the method, enabling the construction of structurally distinct THF-containing skeletons.

Brain aging is a major risk for neurodegeneration, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we performed an integrative proteo-transcriptomic analysis of the aging mouse brain, uncovering molecular signatures of aging through the assessment of protein aggregation, mRNA relocalization, and comparative proteomics across eight models of premature aging and neurodegeneration. We identified dynamic changes in physiological aging highlighting differences in synaptic maintenance and energy-allocation.

Department of Surgery, Rhode Island, Roger Williams Medical Center, Boston University School of Medicine, Prior 4 Building 825 Chalkstone Ave, Providence, RI, 02908, USA.

Background: Multiple studies have been conducted to understand patient-specific barriers to adequate colorectal cancer screening; however, few have offered in-depth reflections directly from patients who have "no-show" to their colonoscopy appointments. This observational study was designed to identify reasons for missed or canceled colonoscopy appointments among Hispanic patients enrolled in our culturally tailored patient navigation program (CTPNP).

Methods: Hispanic patients scheduled for a colonoscopy in the CTPNP at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI, from 2016 to 2019 were followed.

Precision measurements using low-energy antiprotons, exclusively available at the antimatter factory (AMF) of CERN, offer stringent tests of charge-parity-time (CPT) invariance, which is a fundamental symmetry in the Standard Model of particle physics. These tests have been realized, for example, in antiprotonic helium and antihydrogen. In our cryogenic Penning-trap experiments, we measure the magnetic moments and charge-to-mass ratios of protons and antiprotons and now provide the most precise test of CPT invariance in the baryon sector.
