The increasing popularity of wearable technology, such as smartwatches, has introduced new physical safety risks, particularly for children. This report highlights a significant thermal injury sustained by an 8-year-old boy when his off-brand smartwatch overheated and exploded at school. The patient experienced a deep partial thickness burn to his left wrist requiring surgical intervention and partial thickness burns to his right hand that healed with nonoperative management. This is the first report in the literature of a thermal injury sustained from a smartwatch explosion.

Background: The pathogenesis of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) involves gut microbiota dysbiosis. This study investigated pseudolaric acid B (PAB), a diterpenoid from Pseudolarix kaempferi, for its potential to ameliorate MAFLD via microbiota-metabolite-host signaling pathways.
Method: We evaluated the effects of PAB on MAFLD in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice.

Background: Erythema, an early visual indicator of tissue damage preceding pressure injuries (PrIs), presents as redness in light skin tones but is harder to detect in dark skin tones. While thermography shows promise for early PrI detection, validation across different skin tones remains limited. Furthermore, most protocols and models have been developed under highly controlled conditions.

Background: Phrenic nerve injury during mediastinal tumor resection can lead to significant postoperative diaphragmatic dysfunction. Current intraoperative protection techniques are imprecise and lack real-time feedback. We aimed to develop and validate a quantifiable, multimodal neuroprotective strategy.

Background: Chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve induces neuropathic pain, inflammation, oxidative stress, and neurodegenerative changes, impairing sensory and emotional function. While curcumin is well recognized for its anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, its therapeutic use is limited by poor bioavailability. Curcumin liposomal nanoparticles (CLNs) offer improved delivery and stability.

Introduction: Neuropathic pain severely affects patients' quality of life. Limited treatments offer relief but often involve long-term use and side effects.
Objectives: This study aimed to explore the electroacupuncture (EA) and subanesthetic alfaxalone (ALF) combination as a novel therapeutic substitute for the treatment of neuropathic pain in a spared nerve injury (SNI) mouse model.
