Article Abstract

Context: The relationship between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) and methionine synthase reductase (MTRR) gene polymorphisms and H-type hypertension susceptibility has been deeply analysed, but the conclusions are not consistent. Therefore, we carried out a meta-analysis aimed at assessing the relationship exactly.

Methods: Six English databases (PubMed, Embase, EBSCO, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science) and four Chinese databases (China Biological Medicine, WanFang, China Science and Technology Journal, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure) were used for searching studies from inception to August 2023. MTHFR C677T/A1298C and MTRR A66G genetic polymorphisms were evaluated.

Results: A total of 24 papers were included in our research, including 3649 H-type hyperpietics, 2772 non-H-type hyperpietics, and 2149 healthy controls. Our analysis shows that MTHFR C677T polymorphism showed significant association with H-type hypertension in both healthy individuals and non-H-type hyperpietics (TT vs. CC: OR = 3.43, 95% CI = 2.48-4.75). Further subgroup analysis based on geography revealed that homocysteine levels in the southern Chinese population were more susceptible to MTHFR C677T polymorphism ( < 0.05). However, there was no significant association in all genetic models for the polymorphisms of MTHFR A1298C and MTRR A66G.

Conclusion: MTHFR C677T polymorphisms are associated with H-type hypertension in non-H-type hyperpietics and healthy individuals.

Background: Vitamin D, folate, and vitamin B are essential micronutrients with widespread insufficiencies globally. Although most previous research examined each of these nutrients individually, few studies have measured biomarkers of these nutrients concurrently in a large population.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the patterns of concurrent insufficiencies or deficiencies of these nutrients based on serum biomarkers and influencing factors in a rural Chinese population.

Background: Homocysteine (Hcy) is associated with various diseases, but its specific relationship with different types of dizziness remains unclear.

Objectives: This study utilizes NHANES cross-sectional data to investigate the associations between Hcy levels, H-type hypertension, and various symptomatic dizziness, aiming to provide new insights for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed 6,970 participants from NHANES (1999-2004) using weighted logistic regression, trend tests, restricted cubic spline analysis, and subgroup analysis.

Backgrounds: The triglyceride-glucose index combined with waist circumference (TyG-WC) has good predictive performance for cardiovascular disease, but the relationship of TyG-WC with H-type hypertension (HTH) is still unclear.

Objects: To explore the association between TyG-WC and HTH, and provide theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of HTH in the community population.

Methods: The study used multi-stage cluster random sampling to collect representative samples from urban and rural populations in Hunan Province.

This study aims to explore the pathogenic mechanism of H-type hypertension. A rat model of H-type hypertension was established through high-methionine dietary intervention, with subsequent folic acid administration. Untargeted serum metabolomic profiling identified a significant reduction in arachidonic acid (AA) levels in the methionine-enriched group, which were effectively normalized following folic acid supplementation.

Objective: Reports on urinary potassium excretion and H-type hypertension remains rare. We aimed to describe the relationship between 24-hour (h) urinary potassium excretion and the risk of H-type hypertension and non-H-type hypertension, thus to guide personal and public health campaigns including dietary recommendations to lower H-type hypertension and non-H-type hypertension in China.

Methods: In 2020 in Zhejiang, China, a cross-sectional survey on Salt Reduction and Prevention of Hypertension was conducted by using a stratified multistage random sampling strategy, with participants aged 21 to 72 years.
