Fuwai Hospital, National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.
Background: Patent foramen ovale (PFO) has been identified as a potential risk factor for cryptogenic stroke (CS). Although transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is considered the gold standard for PFO detection, false-negative results remain a clinical concern, particularly in CS patients with high suspicion of PFO-related etiology.
Aims: To evaluate the clinical utility of transcatheter PFO exploration (TPFOE) in CS patients with negative TEE findings but high suspicion of PFO-related etiology.

Introduction/aims: We hereby report a novel vesicoscopic supra trigonal ureteric reimplantation detrusorraphy (STURDY) technique for unilateral duplex systems with vesicoureteric reflux (VUR).
Methods: A 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl with recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and left duplex VUR/ureterocele underwent vesicoscopic STURDY.
Technique: After establishing pneumovesicum, a vertical incision was made cranially along the ureter for 2-3 cm incising both the mucosa and detrusor, preserving the vas deferens.

Background And Aims: Traditional endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) involves complete removal of the lesion followed by defect closure. The separated resection and closure technique results in mucosal eversion and misalignment of the muscularis propria layers, making reliable closure difficult. Here, we developed an innovative "cut-and-seal-as-you-go" technique, "Zipper-EFTR" and evaluated the feasibility and safety of the new technique.

Background: Persistent full-thickness macular holes (FTMHs) following primary surgery represent a therapeutic challenge. Various surgical treatment approaches have been proposed. This study evaluates anatomical and functional outcomes of a temporary silicone oil tamponade in persistent FTMH in a larger cohort.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe introduction of autologous neurosensory retinal transplantation (ANRT) into vitreoretinal surgery has significantly improved the success rates of closure of refractory full-thickness macular holes (FTMH). In recent years, the technique has gained wide acceptance and its indications have expanded; however, certain aspects remain debatable - particularly the optimal graft size to ensure the best anatomical and functional outcomes. To address this issue, the study proposes a surgical technique for treating FTMH using ANRT that involves precise marking of the neurosensory retinal graft.
