Background: Disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in high-grade brain tumors is characterized by contrast accumulation on diagnostic imaging. This window of opportunity study correlates contrast imaging features with the tumor distribution of BBB-permeable (levetiracetam) and -impermeable (cefazolin) drugs.
Methods: Patients with a clinical diagnosis of a high-grade brain tumor underwent MRI for surgical planning.

Little is known about the biomarkers of mortality in SARS-CoV-2-infected patients without a previous diagnosis of diabetes. Thus, this study aimed to assess the fibrinogen-to-platelet ratio (FPR) and compare its predictive value with the main biomarkers for COVID-19 mortality, such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), leukocyte glucose index (LGI), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)/lymphocyte ratio. This retrospective cohort study in a population of Mexico included 70 non-diabetic patients with COVID-19 from 1 May 2020 to 30 September 2020.

Introduction: The complement receptor 1 (CR1) gene is identified as the one closely associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, there has been no exploration of the imaging alterations associated with the CR1 gene in AD patients of the Han population. The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between the rs6656401 mutation and neuroimaging variations in Han AD patients.

Objectives: This study focused on synthesizing and characterizing novel thiosemicarbazide derivatives containing a 1,2,4-triazole moiety and evaluating their antimicrobial activity against several bacterial strains. The research aimed to identify key structural features that enhance antimicrobial efficacy through structure-activity relationship analysis and identify the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the most potent compounds to assess their potential for further development as antimicrobial agents.
Materials And Methods: Nine novel thiosemicarbazide derivatives containing a 1,2,4-triazole moiety were synthesized by reacting 1,2,4-triazole derivatives with thiosemicarbazide precursors, and the products were characterized using infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR), carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (C-NMR) spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.

Global phosphorus (P) resources are facing a depletion crisis, and pyrolysis of P-rich sewage sludge (SS) offers significant resource potential. Optimizing pyrolysis conditions remains key yet challenging for enhancing P retention and bioavailability. This study conducted a correlation-prediction-causation integrated framework (CPCIF) to investigate how heating temperature (HT), heating rate (HR), and retention time (RT) influence total P enrichment rate (BTPE), relative inorganic P transformation rate (BITP), and relative apatite P transformation rate (BAIP) from SS to biochar during pyrolysis.
