The social visual pathway, which diverges from the dorsal pathway at the visual motion area (MT/V5) and runs from the posterior down to anterior portions of the superior temporal sulcus (STS), specializes in processing dynamic social information. This study examined resting-state functional connectivity within this pathway in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and typically developing (TD) children. Using data from the Autism Brain Imaging Data Exchange (ABIDE) repository, we found significant hypoconnectivity between the posterior and middle STS (pSTS-mSTS) in the right hemisphere in children with ASD compared to those in TD children. Lower connectivity in this region of the pathway correlated with more severe social symptoms in ASD and higher indices of social communication vulnerabilities in the combined ASD and TD groups. These findings suggest that a specific disruption in the right hemisphere social visual pathway in children with ASD potentially contributes to their social difficulties.

John is a 12-year-old African-American boy with a Specific Learning Disorder in Reading and Generalized Anxiety Disorder who you are seeing in follow-up at your clinic. Last fall, when John was having an escalation of his anxiety symptoms at school, he enacted the behavior intervention plan (BIP) that had been previously established by his educational team of informing his teacher that he needed to leave the classroom. He then paced the hallway outside of his classroom as a method of coping with the anxiety that he was experiencing.

The Northern Renaissance motif of Weibermacht-the "power of woman"-depicted female beauty as a destabilizing force capable of undermining male authority, intellect, and divine order. These visual allegories, featuring figures such as Phyllis, Judith, and Delilah, warned of the dangers inherent in seductive appearance. Far from neutral, beauty was rendered as morally volatile, triggering cultural anxiety through its capacity to challenge patriarchal norms.

In recent years, the question has been raised as to whether teaching eye contact to autistic children is an ethically defensible educational objective. In the present article, I suggest that this question may be best answered by first defining contact with the eyes not as behavior, but as a consequence for the behavior of looking. Looking at people's faces, and in particular the eyes, provides information regarding the discriminative functions and reinforcing value of social stimuli, of people, of what they do, what they say, and what they feel, and is a critical part of all social behavior.

Background: Animal models of nerve compression have revealed neuroinflammation not only at the entrapment site, but also remotely at the spinal cord. However, there is limited information on the presence of neuroinflammation in human compression neuropathies. The objectives of this study were to: (1) assess which tracer kinetic model most optimally quantified [C]DPA713 uptake in the spinal cord and neuroforamina in patients with painful cervical radiculopathy, (2) evaluate the performance of linearized methods (e.

Choroidal metastasis from occult cutaneous melanoma is rare and can masquerade as ocular inflammation. A 70‑year‑old man with sectoral anterior scleritis was found on multimodal imaging to have a solitary choroidal mass with mild periscleral fluid, prompting systemic evaluation that uncovered colonic polyps that, on histopathology, contained metastatic melanoma, a scalp primary, and widespread visceral, nodal, and intracranial metastases. Tumour cells stained HMB‑45, Melan‑A, and SOX10 positive, AE1/AE3 negative, and carried an NRAS‑Q61 mutation with wild‑type BRAF, confirming cutaneous origin.
