Article Abstract

Background: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in children is associated with diverse symptoms affecting quality of life and treatment efficacy. This study aimed to evaluate symptom progression in children with ALL to inform targeted interventions.

Methods: We assessed children with ALL from January 2023 to June 2024 using the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale for Children (MSAS-C) at different chemotherapy stages.

Results: A total of 102 children were included and they experienced an average of 15.52 symptoms. Initially, three symptom clusters predominated: emotional, gastrointestinal, and somatic. As chemotherapy advanced through induction and consolidation phases, the symptom profile expanded to include neurological, self-image disturbance, and skin and mucosal symptoms. During the maintenance phase, the clusters were emotional, gastrointestinal, somatic, neurological, and self-image disturbance.

Conclusion: Symptom clusters in pediatric ALL patients change dynamically with chemotherapy phases, highlighting the need for meticulous assessment tailored interventions to enhance clinical management and patient care.

Targeted degradation of Werner syndrome helicase (WRN) via ligand-directed covalent hydrophobic tagging.

Eur J Med Chem

State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines and Department of Medicinal Chemistry, School of Pharmacy, China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, 211198, PR China. Electronic address:

The Werner syndrome RecQ helicase (WRN) has recently emerged as a novel synthetic lethality target for microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) cancers. However, available WRN inhibitors or degraders is still lacking so far. Particularly, chemically designed probes capable of degrading WRN irrespective of microsatellite status remain unexplored.

Background: Intracranial hypotension (IH) is a secondary headache syndrome that can result from spontaneous or iatrogenic CSF leaks. Subdural hematomas (SDHs) are a particularly dangerous sequela of IH. Although epidural blood patch (EBP) is a recognized treatment for IH, its use in pediatric patients with SDH as a solitary intervention has not been reported.

Background: High-grade astrocytoma with piloid features (HGAP) was recently added to the WHO 2021 CNS classification system among the group of circumscribed astrocytic gliomas. These tumors present with high-grade piloid histology with similarities to glioblastoma. HGAPs in the pineal region become particularly challenging due to its deep location and proximity to deep venous structures, the midbrain, and the thalamus.

Erythrodontium julaceum, Marchantia polymorpha, and Plagiochila bantamensis are widely distributed bryophytes in Vietnam. However, comprehensive chemical and biological data on their composition remain limited. Bio-guided isolation based on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) M inhibition was applied to these species, resulting in the identification of 23 metabolites.
