Comparative mitogenomics of the eulipotyphlan species (Mammalia, Eulipotyphla) provides novel insights into the molecular evolution of hibernation.

Mitochondrial DNA A DNA Mapp Seq Anal

Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou), Guangzhou, China.

Hibernation is an elaborate response strategy employed by numerous mammals to survive in cold conditions that involves active suppression of metabolism. Despite the role of mitochondria as energy metabolism centers during hibernation, the adaptive and evolutionary mechanisms of mitochondrial genes in hibernating animals, like hedgehogs in eulipotyphlan species, are not yet fully understood. In this study, we sequenced and assembled mitochondrial genomes of the hibernating four-toed hedgehog () and the non-hibernating Asian house shrew ().

The Transcription Factor MYB8 Positively Regulates Flavonoid Biosynthesis of Scutellaria baicalensis in Response to Drought Stress.

National Engineering Laboratory for Resource Development of Endangered Crude Drugs in Northwest China, Key Laboratory of Medicinal Resources and Natural Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the Ministry of Education, College of Life Sciences, Shaanxi Normal University, Xi'an, China.

Drought stress dynamically reprograms specialised metabolism in medicinal plants. However, the transcriptional regulatory modules governing stress-adaptive metabolite synthesis remain poorly characterised. Here, we identified SbMYB8 as a drought-responsive transcription factor showing nuclear localisation and dose-dependent induction under drought in Scutellaria baicalensis.

Background And Hypothesis: Schizophrenia is linked to hippocampal dysfunction and microglial inflammatory activation. Our prior clinical findings revealed significantly reduced transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) expression in both first-episode and recurrent schizophrenia patients, with levels inversely correlating with symptom severity, implicating TRPV1 dysfunction in disease progression. Preclinical maternal separation (MS) models recapitulate schizophrenia-like behavioral and synaptic deficits, paralleled by hippocampal microglial TRPV1 downregulation.

Background: Clinical and basic research suggests that exercise is a safe behavioral intervention and effective in improving cognition in vascular dementia (VD). However, despite global efforts, there is still no effective method to completely cure VD. This study aimed to investigate the effects of long-term exercise pretreatment on typical VD pathology in a rat model, and further compare the neuroprotective impacts of different exercise modalities on VD rats.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators in gene expression networks, characterized by their structural flexibility and functional versatility. In plants, lncRNAs have gained increasing attention due to accumulating evidence of their roles in modulating developmental plasticity and agronomic traits. In this review, we focus on the origin, classification, and mechanisms of action of plant lncRNAs, with a particular emphasis on their involvement in developmental processes.
