Background: This paper describes a case of prosthesis embolization during transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) that was managed with a novel percutaneous strategy.
Case Summary: A 77-year-old man with severe trileaflet aortic valve stenosis underwent TAVR with a 29-mm Evolut FX. The valve embolized to the ascending aorta shortly after its release. TAVR was completed with a 23-mm SAPIEN 3 Ultra RESILIA, and a Zenith Dissection Endovascular Stent was deployed through the embolized Evolut FX, pinning the prosthesis to the aortic wall. The patient experienced no neurologic or aortic injury through 30 days of follow-up.
Discussion: Because of its use in complicated type B aortic dissection, the bare metal dissection stent is an excellent option for managing embolized prostheses that cannot be repositioned in the descending aorta.
Take-home Message: Deployment of a bare metal dissection stent may be an important rescue strategy for embolized TAVR prostheses.

The processes of thermoforming 2D-printed electronics into 3D structures can introduce defects that impact the electrical performance of conductors, making them more susceptible to thermal failure during high electrical power/current applications on temperature-sensitive substrates. We therefore report the use of a thin-film boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) interlayer to directly reduce heat stress on linear and serpentine metallic traces on polycarbonate substrates thermoformed to 3D spherocylindrical geometries at varying elongation percentages. We demonstrate that the BNNT interlayer helps to improve the electrical conductivity of highly elongated thermoformed 3D traces in comparison to traces on bare polycarbonate.

Chronic mesenteric ischemia typically presents with postprandial abdominal pain and weight loss due to atherosclerotic stenosis of mesenteric arteries. Endovascular treatment has become the first-line management, demonstrating lower early mortality and fewer complications compared to open surgery. Recent evidence shows that covered stents provide superior long-term outcomes, with better primary patency and freedom from reintervention than bare-metal stents.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: The purpose of this paper was to compare the efficacy of covered stents (CSs) and bare metal stents (BMSs) in treating all types of aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD) and subsequently to analyze the risk factors associated with restenosis, limb salvage, and patency.
Methods: This prospective cohort study included consecutive patients with AIOD who underwent aortoiliac angioplasty, and two groups of patients were evaluated: patients with AIOD submitted to endovascular treatment with the use of covered stents and bare metal stents. Patients with critical limb ischemia or incapacitating claudication who underwent aortoiliac angioplasty during the index period were eligible for the study.

Purpose: Although stent grafts have demonstrated significant benefits over bare metal stents and conventional venoplasty at maintaining patency of dialysis vascular access, they are far from perfect and are prone to edge stenosis. A new strategy of placing stent graft to reduce the possible occurrence of edge stenosis is therefore proposed in this study.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective review between 2015 and 2023 identified 21 arteriovenous grafts (AVG) hemodialysis patients who underwent stent graft placement with the medial stent end in an outflow venous valve.
