Article Abstract

By analyzing the understandings of water points (acupoints connected with the kidney) and its association with water (kidney), organs and meridian-collateral recorded in (), it is found that the recognition on the water points is different from that on water diseases in ( ') The recognition on the water points focuses on the core theory, "rooted at the kidney", to explain the water diseases. Besides, in association with the study on the connotation of "" in , it is discovered that "" discussed in water points is actually the misunderstanding of "" that means "the connection by the kidney". It is shown that the discussion of water points refer to the elaboration of organs and 57 acupoints connected with water (the kidney), rather than the theory of collaterals. The characteristics of these 57 acupoints involved and the related needling techniques provide a new approach to the treatment of diseases.

Urban-impacted river pollutant sources: WQI ranking and PMF analysis.

Environ Monit Assess

September 2025

School of Materials Engineering, Changzhou Vocational Institute of Industry Technology, Changzhou, 213000, People's Republic of China.

A multi-indicator framework was developed to resolve multi-source pollution in highly urbanized rivers, demonstrated in the Qinhuai River Basin, Nanjing, China. Water quality index (WQI) stratification was integrated with dissolved organic matter (DOM) fluorescence components, hydrochemical ions, and conventional parameters and analyzed using positive matrix factorization (PMF). Correlation analysis further elucidated source compositions and interactions.

Evaluating the Long-term Effects of Microfocused Ultrasound on Facial Tightening Using Quantitative Instruments: Efficacy and Safety.

Aesthetic Plast Surg

September 2025

Department of Plastic Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital, Jinan University, No. 613 West, Huangpu Avenue, Guangzhou, 510630, Guangdong Province, China.

Background: Microfocused ultrasound (MFU) is a non-invasive technique used for facial rejuvenation, yet there is limited quantitative data on its long-term effects. This study aimed to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of MFU for facial rejuvenation. We utilized standardized photography along with advanced skin assessment technologies to analyze the impact of MFU on facial morphology, skin function, and patient satisfaction over a 12-month period.

Anthropogenic climate warming and coastal eutrophication have restructured phytoplankton communities in the East China Sea; however, the centennial-scale dynamics of phytoplankton remain poorly understood. By systematically integrating 33 sediment cores, we reconcile the variations of primary productivity during the last century. The results revealed increased primary productivity during the past century, while the phytoplankton groups showed divergent eco-regional responses: river-dominated estuaries have partially mitigated the dominance of dinoflagellates (1980s) via Changjiang nitrate loading, while potential hypoxic regions shifted earlier (1960s) under thermal forcing and silicate concentration.

Rapid Removal of Azo Cationic Dyes Using a Cu(II) Hydrogen-Π-Bonded Organic Framework and Its Derived Oxide: A Combined Adsorption and Photocatalysis Study.

Langmuir

Laboratory of Electrochemistry-Corrosion, Metallurgy and Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, USTHB, BP 32, 16111, Algiers, Algeria.

Azo dyes, prevalent in various industries, including textile dyeing, food, and cosmetics, pose significant environmental and health risks due to their chemical stability and toxicity. This study introduces the synthesis and application of a copper hydrogen-π-bonded benzoate framework (Cu-HBF) and its derived marigold flower-like copper oxide (MFL-CuO) in a synergetic adsorption-photocatalytic process for efficiently removing cationic azo dyes from water, specifically crystal violet (CV), methylene blue (MB), and rhodamine B (RhB). The Cu-HBF, previously available only in single crystal form, is prepared here as a crystalline powder for the first time, using a low-cost and facile procedure, allowing its application as an adsorbent and also serving as a precursor for synthesizing well-structured copper oxide (MFL-CuO).

Essay: Photonic Crystals as a Platform to Explore New Physics.

Phys Rev Lett

August 2025

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Department of Physics and Institute for Advanced Study, Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong SAR, China.

Photonic crystals are artificial materials characterized by a photonic band structure that governs the propagation of light waves. The photonic gap was originally introduced to inhibit spontaneous emission and facilitate photon localization. In this essay, I will highlight how, despite the established understanding of photonic crystals, they remain highly relevant today.
