Ice nucleation and growth are critical in many fields, including atmospheric science, cryobiology, and aviation. However, understanding the detailed mechanisms of ice crystal growth remains challenging. In this work, crystallization at the ice/quasi-liquid layer (QLL) interface of the basal and primary prism (prism1) surfaces of hexagonal ice (Ih) was investigated using molecular dynamics simulations across a wide range of temperatures for the TIP4P/Ice model, with comparisons to the mW coarse-grained model. Together with elucidating the temperature-dependent mechanisms of crystallization, face-specific growth rates were systematically estimated. While the prism surface generally exhibits faster growth rates than the basal surface, a temperature-dependent crossover in growth rates between the basal and prism surfaces is observed in TIP4P/Ice simulations, which correlates with crossovers in QLL thickness and properties and with the well-known column to platelets transition in ice-crystal habits at low vapor pressure. This observation helps decode the complex dependence between crystal morphology and temperature in ice crystals.

The effect of mixed potable and wastewater (WW) irrigation on leafy vegetables cultivated in southern Tehran, Iran, was investigated in 2022. Eight species-spinach (Spinacia oleracea), scallion (Allium fistulosum), radish (Raphanus sativus), cress (Lepidium sativum), basil (Ocimum basilicum), purslane (Portulaca oleracea), cilantro (Coriandrum sativum), and savory (Satureja hortensis)-were grown in calcareous loamy soil under greenhouse conditions using five irrigation regimes (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% WW) applied every 2 days. Soil salinity, DTPA-extractable Co, Cu, Ni, and Zn, plant growth traits, and health risk indices-transfer factor (TF), bioaccumulation factor (BAF), average daily dietary intake (ADD), hazard quotient (HQ), and cancer risk (CR)-were determined for children and adults.

The emergence of new types of pollutants and the increase of anthropogenic load on the environment provoked an increased interest of researchers to study the toxic effects of pollutants on living organisms. This study is devoted to investigate the physiological response of the Black Sea phytoplankton community to the effects of ZnO, CuO and TiO nanoparticles (NPs) of different concentrations by creating in vitro model microcosms. Trends of changes in the ratio between phytoplankton groups (cyanobacteria-picoeukaryotic algae-nano-microphytoplankton), species composition, growth rates and functional state of cells under the influence of the studied nanoparticles were revealed.

Background: Atrial fibrillation and flutter (AF/AFL) are traditionally regarded as diseases of ageing, with most research focused on elderly populations. In contrast, early-onset AF/AFL (<65 years) is increasingly recognized as a potential marker of cardiomyopathy, yet its global burden remains poorly understood.
