The introduction of fluorescence imaging (FLI) in near-infrared II sub-channels (NIR-IIb, 1500-1700 nm) has revolutionized the ability to explore complex patho-physiological settings . Despite the transformative potentials, the development of organic NIR IIb dyes encounters considerable difficulties, and only a limited number of such fluorophores have been developed so far. This review systematically introduces design strategies of organic NIR-IIb fluorophores classified by molecular scaffolds, mainly including cyanine dyes and D-A-D small molecule dyes. The design strategies of cyanine dyes involve repurposing of the existing NIR dyes, conjugate reinforcement and regulation of the aggregation state. For D-A-D small molecule dyes, strategies mainly incorporate the extension of the conjugate skeleton, introduction of shielding units, and acceptor/donor engineering. We further describe recent biomedical applications including biomedical imaging and imaging-guided therapy, and conclude by clarifying the current challenges and prospects of NIR-IIb FLI.

Minoritized racial, ethnic, sexual, and gender communities and populations face profound health disparities and their engagement in research remains low. In a randomized controlled trial, our community-based participatory research partnership tested the efficacy of ChiCAS, an HIV prevention intervention designed to increase pre-exposure prophylaxis use among Spanish-speaking transgender Latinas. Of 161 eligible Spanish-speaking transgender Latinas screened, we enrolled 144, achieving an 89% participation rate, and retained 94% at 6-month follow-up.

Importance: Advances in diagnostics have enabled the detection of more gastrointestinal pathogens, but misuse of diagnostics can lead to inappropriate antibiotic use and excess financial burdens. Ensuring appropriate use of diagnostics is crucial for optimizing patient care and promoting stewardship of health care resources.
Objective: To elicit parents' and clinicians' perspectives on expectations for care of pediatric diarrhea with a focus on diagnostic testing and to evaluate the potential for an electronic clinical decision support tool (ECDST) to improve appropriate use of diagnostics.

ConspectusMolecular photochemistry, by harnessing the excited states of organic molecules, provides a platform fundamentally distinct from thermochemistry for generating reactive open-shell or spin-active species under mild conditions. Among its diverse applications, the resurgence of the Minisci-type reaction, a transformation historically reliant on thermally initiated radical conditions, has been fueled by modern photochemical strategies with improved efficiency and selectivity. Consequently, the photochemical Minisci-type reaction ranks among the most enabling methods for C()-H functionalizations of heteroarenes, which are of particular significance in medicinal chemistry for the rapid diversification of bioactive scaffolds.

The challenge of photocatalytic hydrogen production has motivated a targeted search for MXenes as a promising class of materials for this transformation because of their high mobility and high light absorption. High-throughput screening has been widely used to discover new materials, but the relatively high cost limits the chemical space for searching MXenes. We developed a deep-learning-enabled high-throughput screening approach that identified 14 stable candidates with suitable band alignment for water splitting from 23 857 MXenes.

Purpose: Glioblastoma (GBM) remains one of the most aggressive primary brain tumors with poor survival outcomes and a lack of approved therapies. A promising novel approach for GBM is the application of photodynamic therapy (PDT), a localized, light-activated treatment using tumor-selective photosensitizers. This narrative review describes the mechanisms, delivery systems, photosensitizers, and available evidence regarding the potential of PDT as a novel therapeutic approach for GBM.
