Article Abstract

The exposome is the measure of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. Exposomics is the emerging field of research to measure and study the totality of the exposome. Exposomics can assist with molecular medicine by furthering our understanding of how the exposome influences cellular and molecular processes such as gene expression, epigenetic modifications, metabolic pathways, and immune responses. These molecular alterations can aid as biomarkers for the diagnosis, disease prediction, early detection, and treatment and offering new avenues for personalized medicine. Advances in high throughput omics and other technologies as well as increased computational analytics is enabling comprehensive measurement and sophisticated analysis of the exposome to elucidate their cumulative and combined impacts on health, which can enable individuals, communities, and policymakers to create programs, policies, and protections that promote healthier environments and people. This review provides an overview of the potential role of exposomics in molecular medicine, covering its history, methodologies, current research and applications, and future directions.

Astragaloside IV Binds with RhoA, Inhibits EndMT and Ameliorates Myocardial Fibrosis in Mice.

Am J Chin Med

September 2025

Shanghai Frontiers Science Center of TCM Chemical Biology, Institute of Interdisciplinary Integrative Medicine Research, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai 201203, China.

Astragaloside IV (ASIV), the main active component of the traditional Chinese medicine HuangQi, exhibits ameliorating effects on myocardial fibrosis through unclear mechanisms. To investigate the effects of ASIV on Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) in myocardial fibrosis, 10 ng/mL TGF-β1 was used to induce EndMT in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and a 5 mg/kg/d subcutaneous injection of Isoproterenol (ISO) was used to induce myocardial fibrosis in mice . The drug affinity-responsive target stability (DARTS) was used to identify the target proteins of ASIV in endothelial cells.

Acute leukaemias are the commonest cancers in children and young people (CYP). Off-treatment surveillance is assumed to improve relapse detection, but whether this affects subsequent survival and quality of life is unclear. This systematic review searched 13 databases and two trial registries in December 2022.

Species-specific behaviour and environmental drivers of trap interactions in wild ornamental fishes.

J Fish Biol

The harvest of animals from the wild is a pervasive selective force, especially in fisheries, where harvesting often targets individuals with specific traits. While most research has focused on large-scale commercial or recreational fisheries, little attention has been paid to artisanal fisheries, particularly those targeting ornamental species. Furthermore, environmental factors such as temperature and oxygen levels influence the behaviour of fishes, such as boldness and sociability, but their role in the harvesting process remains poorly understood.

Autoimmune diseases (AIDs) constitute a group of disorders where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's tissues. The pathogenesis of AIDs involve a breakdown in immune tolerance, culminating in an immune response that targets autoantigens. In adaptive immunity, secondary rearrangement of T cell receptors (TCRs) and B cell receptors (BCRs) involves sequential V(D)J recombination events during lymphocyte development.

Here, using whole-exome sequencing of a cohort of 17 Japanese patients with 46,XY disorders or differences of sex development, we identified two pathogenic DEAH-box helicase 37 (DHX37) variants in three patients. We also identified a patient with a likely pathogenic variant in SOX9 and a rare likely benign variant in DHX37. This Data Report highlights the genetic and phenotypic diversity of DXH37 variants.
