This study describes a new species of Polyxenida from China, , along with a species newly recorded from China: (Miyosi, 1947), and provides additional descriptions of Ishii & Liang, 1990 and Ishii & Liang, 1990. The study conducted mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) sequencing for all four species and constructed a phylogenetic tree based on the molecular data. The comprehensive morphological descriptions and molecular analyses confirm the addition of one new species and one newly recorded species for the Polyxenida fauna of China, elevating the total number of known Polyxenida species in the country from 10 to 12. The study also includes an identification key for Polyxenida species in China.

Background: Tasmania is the smallest of the eight continental Australian States and Territories, with a landmass of ca 68000 sq. km. In comparison to the rest of Australia, Tasmania's millipede fauna is relatively well-sampled and well-studied, and includes 135 formally described native species in five orders: Polyxenida (5 species), Sphaerotheriida (2), Spirostreptida (21), Chordeumatida (11) and Polydesmida (96).

Yang & Bu, from east China is described and illustrated. The new species is compared with other congeners in detail and observations about its embryonic and post-embryonic development are provided. The complete mitochondrial genome of the new species is also analyzed, which represents the first published mitogenome of Polyxenida.
