Heavy metals are life-threatening pollutions because of their great toxicity, long-term persistence in nature and their bioaccumulation in living organisms. In this work, we performed multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares analysis of UV-Vis raw spectra received by a colorimetric sensor constructed on mercaptoundecanoic acid functionalized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs@11MUA) to detect Cd, Cu, Mn, Ni, and Zn in water. This combined approach allowed the rapid identification and quantification of multiple heavy metals and showed adequate sensitivity and selectivity, thus representing a promising analytical and computational method for both laboratory and field applications such as environmental safety and public health monitoring.

Background: Bedside ultrasound is increasingly utilized to assess muscle mass in critically ill patients, providing a noninvasive and real-time tool for early risk stratification. Muscle wasting is known to be associated with adverse outcomes in septic shock, but its prognostic value using ultrasound in this population remains underexplored. This study aimed to investigate the association between changes in rectus femoris cross-sectional area (CSA), assessed by bedside ultrasound, and 28-day mortality in patients with septic shock.

Purpose: To develop and validate an integrated model based on MR high-resolution vessel wall imaging (HR-VWI) radiomics and clinical features to preoperatively assess periprocedural complications (PC) risk in patients with intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) undergoing percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting (PTAS).
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study enrolled 601 PTAS patients (PC+, n = 84; PC -, n = 517) from three centers. Patients were divided into training (n = 336), validation (n = 144), and test (n = 121) cohorts.

Objective: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) cause significant perinatal morbidity. We developed a nomogram predicting preterm delivery risk using pre-delivery 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and clinical factors.
Methods: HDP patients undergoing ABPM within 1 month pre-delivery were enrolled.

Background: Obesity, a prevalent global health issue, is associated with testosterone deficiency (TD). A body shape index (ABSI) provides a more precise assessment of obesity and visceral fat, but its relationship with testosterone remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the association between ABSI and testosterone levels leading to TD.

Background: Liver cirrhosis, characterized by chronic inflammation, is frequently complicated by malnutrition. Nutritional indices, such as the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and the skeletal muscle index (SMI), calculated as the muscle area quantified via CT scans at the third lumbar vertebra level divided by the square of the patient's height in meters (cm/m), are associated with outcomes in inflammatory diseases.
Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of the PNI both independently and in combination with the SMI for identifying malnutrition in cirrhosis and to explore their prognostic implications.
