The 2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)benzamide scaffold is frequently found in a variety of bioactive compounds, displaying a broad spectrum of properties, such as antibacterial and antitumor effects. In this study, we developed a new method for synthesizing 2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)benzamide derivatives from 2-aryloxybenzamide via a PhIO-mediated oxidation reaction. The optimal reaction conditions were established as follows: TFA was used as the solvent, PhIO served as the oxidant with a substrate-to-oxidant ratio of 1:2, and the reaction was conducted at room temperature. This method, characterized by mild reaction conditions, broad applicability, and a metal-free nature, considerably improves the accessibility of 2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)benzamide derivatives, which have been challenging to prepare using previously reported methods.

Glycocins are a growing family of ribosomally synthesized and posttranslationally modified peptides (RiPPs) that are O- and/or S-glycosylated. Using a sequence similarity network of putative glycosyltransferases, the thg biosynthetic gene cluster was identified in the genome of Thermoanaerobacterium thermosaccharolyticum. Heterologous expression in Escherichia coli showed that the glycosyltransferase (ThgS) encoded in the biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC) adds N-acetyl-glucosamine (GlcNAc) to Ser and Cys residues of ThgA.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are distinguished by their structural diversity, tunable electronic properties, and exceptional performance in various applications. Notably, the electron-donating ability of ligands significantly enhances the ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) processes within these frameworks, thereby promoting efficient charge migration. Herein, we developed two electron-rich macrocyclic ligands derived from phenothiazine- and phenoxazine-functionalized calix[3]arenes, alongside their corresponding cobalt-coordinated MOFs.

Importance: Adolescents account for almost half of the 2.5 million diagnosed sexually transmitted infections in the US annually, and the emergency department functions as the primary source of health care for many adolescents. No recommendations exist for emergency department gonorrhea and chlamydia screening.

Importance: Comprehensive incidence and prevalence rates of frontotemporal dementia are currently not available.
Objective: To estimate the incidence and prevalence of frontotemporal dementia and its clinical variants in the overall population and age subgroups.
Data Sources And Study Selection: We systematically searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus between January 1, 1990, and October 22, 2024, for population-based studies estimating the incidence and/or prevalence of FTD.

Background: Ambulatory older residents in long-term care(LTC) have the highest risk of falling. However, the relationship between ambulatory activity (steps per day) and fall risk in LTC is unclear. This study examined whether baseline daily step count, functional capacity and cognitive function predicted falls in LTC residents, and whether functional capacity modified the relationship between step count and fall risk.
