Acne is a multifactorial dermatological condition driven by Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) infection, inflammation, and sebum dysregulation. While essential oils, such as Angelica sinensis (Danggui) essential oil (AEO), exhibit antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, their clinical application is hindered by poor solubility, stability, and skin penetration.

Sebum secreted by sebaceous glands mixes with sweat to form a protective film that aids in maintaining skin health. Reduced sebum production compromises such barrier functions, potentially leading to severe itchiness and inflammation. Therefore, incorporating moisturizers with ingredients promoting sebum secretion is desirable.

Background: Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR) is a chronic dermatological condition characterized by persistent facial erythema and visible telangiectasia. This study aims to compare the efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction associated with pulsed dye laser (PDL), narrow-band intense pulsed light (NB-IPL), and broad-band IPL (BB-IPL) in the treatment of ETR.

Methods: A total of 112 patients diagnosed with ETR between May 2021 and April 2024 were retrospectively analyzed.

Vemurafenib, a low-molecular-weight BRAF inhibitor, effectively treats cutaneous melanoma with the BRAF mutation, but it causes skin disorders such as dry skin with high frequency. As one of the factors causing skin dryness is a decrease in sebum production due to sebaceous gland dysfunction, we examined whether vemurafenib regulated the production and accumulation of sebum in hamster sebocytes. Vemurafenib dose- and time-dependently decreased the production and accumulation of sebum in DHT-differentiated hamster sebocytes.

In particular, we study the influence of sample preparation methods on the removal efficiency of cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine (RDX) particles from clean glass slides air jet impingement. Five different sample preparation methods are investigated covering a range of potential contamination scenarios. These include (1) dry sieve, (2) artificial fingerprint without sebum, (3) artificial fingerprint with sebum, (4) dry transfer and (5) direct pipetting of an aqueous suspension.
