Background: Acetaminophen, a widely used analgesic, has drawn attention for its potential to reduce oxidative stress through inhibiting lipid peroxidation and scavenging free radicals. Emerging evidence indicates that early acetaminophen administration might improve survival outcomes in surgical intensive care unit (SICU) patients. This study aims to explore the relationship between early acetaminophen use and mortality in this patient population.

Pain is prevalent and a major source of disability after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and a spinal cord injury (SCI). With a view of reducing the pain burden in neurotrauma, this study aimed to describe the use of pain management strategies and the adverse effects of opioids in patients with TBI and SCI. We collected data at hospital discharge (T1) and at 3 months post-injury (T2).

Background: The dynamic interplay between esterase activity and physicochemical microenvironments-such as polarity and viscosity-is critical for decoding early cellular dysfunction in processes like apoptosis, ferroptosis, and drug-induced toxicity. However, conventional probes typically report only a single parameter, obscuring interdependent changes in enzyme activity and membrane properties. This technological gap limits our ability to capture real-time, spatially resolved fluctuations within subcellular compartments.

Background: Patent ductus arteriosus is a common complication of extreme prematurity. Prophylactic treatment with indomethacin or ibuprofen has shown efficacy on ductus closure but without reducing mortality and morbidity. Prophylactic treatment by paracetamol could be a safer alternative.

Molecular crystals are subjected to mechanical stress that can alter their slip planes which are structural features that play a critical role in governing mechanical behaviors such as milling, that requires fundamental insight for the successful manufacturing and performance of solid oral dosage forms. Milling is a critical unit operation in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical dosage forms. During this process, slip planes may become disrupted and dislocations can form, potentially inducing plastic deformation and significantly altering the physicochemical properties of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
