Scleral-fixated intraocular lens (SFIOL) is a widely used technique for IOL implantation in patients where capsular support is insufficient. Most surgeons have shifted away from sutured to sutureless SFIOL techniques where haptics of a multifocal IOL are inserted in scleral tunnels/flaps. Large-scale publications have shown wide variation in the refractive status of eyes post-SFIOL even in the best of the hands. This is because even slight variations in the site of scleral flap/tunnel formation and tension on haptics due to the variable length of haptics placed in scleral flaps/tunnels can alter the effective lens position and induce significant residual refractive error, especially cylindrical astigmatism due to IOL tilt. Our technique aims to reduce residual refractive error after SFIOL implantation. This is achieved by using intraoperative aberrometry and adjusting haptics accordingly to achieve minimal refractive error intraoperatively.

Of 894,375 Israeli adolescents undergoing standardized medical and ocular assessments in our nationwide cross-sectional study, 2,622 (0.3%) had autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Adolescents with ASD had significantly higher adjusted odds of both myopia and astigmatism compared with peers who did not have ASD.

Objectives: To investigate the relationship between variability of preoperative ocular biometric measurements and the accuracy of intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation.
Methods: This retrospective study included cataract patients who underwent surgery at the People's Hospital of Baoan Shenzhen from January 2022 to December 2024. Preoperative ocular biometric parameters were measured using the Lenstar LS-900, and the coefficients of variation (CV) of corneal curvature (K1-CV, K2-CV), axial length (AL-CV), anterior chamber depth (ACD-CV) were calculated.

Background: The Vision Centre (VC) model evolved to meet primary eye care needs in rural and underprivileged communities, overcoming workforce and resource challenges. Despite over two decades of operation, its impact is not well-documented. We evaluated its effectiveness by comparing prevalence of visual impairment (VI), eyecare utilisation and service coverage among residents within and beyond a 5 km radius of VCs in Theni district, India.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains a major cause of preventable blindness in premature infants worldwide, with increasing incidence due to advancements in neonatal care. Management of ROP has been revolutionised by anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatments. Pivotal clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of anti-VEGF in the management of Type 1 ROP, while investigation of safety and long-term effects is ongoing.

Myopic strabismus fixus (MSF) is an acquired, progressive form of strabismus associated with high myopia. It is typically characterised by an esotropia-hypotropia or exotropia-hypotropia complex. We present a sporadic case of a middle-aged adult male with high myopia, who exhibited an esotropia-hypertropia complex in both eyes.
