Unlabelled: Hexokinases (HXK) not only facilitate carbohydrate metabolism but also play important roles in sugar sensing in higher plants. gene families have been extensively discussed in many plant species; however, comprehensive information regarding in sorghum remains unclear. To address this gap, we identified 7 putative sorghum ( to ), and the features of their conserved domains, gene structure, evolutionary tree, and cis-acting elements were systematically characterized to reveal the evolutionary conservation between different plant species. Based on expression profiling, we found that different expression patterns of were associated with different physiological processes, including abiotic stresses. Further qRT-PCR verification under salt and sucrose treatment confirmed that , , and may play very important roles under high osmotic pressure. Notably, SbHXKs are predominantly localized in the cytoplasm, in contrast to some rice and HXKs, which are localized in chloroplasts or mitochondria, suggesting divergent roles for SbHXKs. In summary, our study provides a theoretical foundation for understanding the HXK gene family and offers fundamental insights of in sorghum.

Mycobacteria ( family) comprise five genera (, , , , and ), which include relevant animal and human pathogens. Histology is a rapid method for preemptively diagnosing mycobacteriosis, contributing to surveillance, control, and eradication. A constraint on histology is the limited sensitivity and specificity of acid-fast stains, as the number of detectable bacilli in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue varies and other microorganisms are acid-fast positive.

Background: Polygenic risk scores (PRS) are not yet standard in clinical risk assessments for familial breast cancer in Sweden. This study evaluated the distribution and impact of an established PRS (PRS) in women undergoing clinical sequencing for hereditary breast cancer.
Findings: We integrated PRS into a hereditary breast cancer gene panel used in clinical practice and calculated scores for 262 women.

The Nanopig™ model is an emerging non-rodent platform for (bio)pharmaceutical safety assessment, with potential advantages for translational research. Here, we report initial characterization results using whole genome sequencing (WGS) and tissue-based proteomics, focusing on drug metabolism and immune system relevance. WGS produced a high-quality Nanopig™ genome assembly (2.

Mature mRNAs are generated by spliceosomes that recruit factors to aid RNA splicing in which introns are removed and exons joined. Among the splicing factors, a family of proteins contain a homologous U2 Auxiliary Factor (U2AF) Homology Motif (UHM) to bind with factors containing U2AF ligand motifs (ULM) and recruit them to regulate 3' splice site selection. Mutations and overexpression of UHM splicing factors are frequently found in cancers.

The phylum Mollusca is one of the most diverse groups, second only to arthropods, whose production through aquaculture and wild capture is increasing due to its nutritional and economic values, especially its protein availability for human consumption. However, the negative influence caused by pathogen infection and environmental challenges has led to low aquaculture productivity and economic losses for shellfish farmers. Heat shock proteins, as molecular chaperones, contribute to the folding of nascent proteins, environmental adaptation, the immune response, etc.
