Effects of Imidacloprid on Afrotropical Aquatic Ecosystems: A South African Microcosm Study.

Integr Environ Assess Manag

September 2025

Water Research Group, Unit for Environmental Sciences and Management, North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Pesticides are widely used to meet the food demands of a growing population, with various types used to control pests depending on the crops grown. Rainfall, overspray, and runoff from agricultural fields can wash these insecticides into water bodies, posing documented environmental risks. Imidacloprid is commonly used in Afrotropical regions such as South Africa, yet limited information is available on its toxicity to aquatic ecosystems within this climate region.

Background: Ambulatory older residents in long-term care(LTC) have the highest risk of falling. However, the relationship between ambulatory activity (steps per day) and fall risk in LTC is unclear. This study examined whether baseline daily step count, functional capacity and cognitive function predicted falls in LTC residents, and whether functional capacity modified the relationship between step count and fall risk.

Anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies are gaining clinical relevance in the nephrology community due to their demonstrated efficacy and favorable safety profiles across short-, medium-, and long-term use. Initially developed for hematologic malignancies and multiple sclerosis, B-cell depletion therapies are now being investigated across a broader spectrum of autoimmune diseases, including glomerulopathies, both with and without associated podocytopathy. Recent advances have led to the development of novel anti-CD20 agents that are being used not only as potential alternatives to corticosteroids but also as adjunctive therapies in complex clinical settings.

Adversarial training for dynamics matching in coarse-grained models.

J Chem Phys

September 2025

Department of Chemistry, Chicago Center for Theoretical Chemistry, Institute for Biophysical Dynamics, and James Franck Institute, The University of Chicago, 5735 S. Ellis Ave., SCL 123, Chicago, Illinois 60637, USA.

Molecular dynamics simulations are essential for studying complex molecular systems, but their high computational cost limits scalability. Coarse-grained (CG) models reduce this cost by simplifying the system, yet traditional approaches often fail to maintain dynamic consistency, compromising their reliability in kinetics-driven processes. Here, we introduce an adversarial training framework that aligns CG trajectory ensembles with all-atom (AA) reference dynamics, ensuring both thermodynamic and kinetic fidelity.

Gravitational and Magnetic Bi-Field Assisted One-Step Quick Fabrication of Implantable Micro Zn-Ion Hybrid Supercapacitor.

Adv Healthc Mater

September 2025

Energy Storage Institute of Lanzhou University of Technology, School of Materials Science and Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Processing and Recycling of Non-ferrous Metals, Lanzhou University of Technology, Lanzhou, 730050, China.

The rapid advancement of implantable medical electronic devices has spurred substantial research into implantable energy storage systems. However, the presence of multiple film resistors in traditional sandwich structures impedes further enhancements in the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors and may result in contact failures between electrodes and separators or catastrophic short-circuit failures during tissue deformation. This study introduces a novel approach for fabricating all-in-one Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors, which effectively mitigates performance degradation and safety concerns arising from interfacial issues.
