Returning to activity after spinal deformity surgery is vital for patient recovery and long-term health, yet there is significant variability in postoperative protocols among surgeons worldwide. This paper aims to define guidelines for returning to activity across diverse patient groups: early onset scoliosis (EOS), adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), young adults, adult spinal deformity (ASD), elite athletes, and general sports participants. This paper provides guidelines to foster a unified approach to postoperative care, improving outcomes and ensuring patients can safely and effectively resume their activities. This paper represents the proceedings of an SRS educational CME webinar. A summary of recommendations for each patient group is included aiming to enhance surgeon practice and patient care through standardized postoperative protocols.

Introduction: Pharmacokinetic differences between long-acting injectable antipsychotic (LAI) formulations, combined with a lack of clinical switch studies, contribute to clinician uncertainty when transitioning between LAIs. This analysis employed a population pharmacokinetic (popPK) modeling approach to characterize dosing conversions and switching strategies from intramuscular paliperidone palmitate once monthly (PP1m) to TV-46000, a long-acting subcutaneous formulation of risperidone, once monthly (q1m), with a secondary analysis of PP1m to TV-46000 every 2 months (q2m).
Methods: For PP1m and TV-46000, concentration-time profiles for paliperidone and TV-46000 total active moiety (TAM; risperidone + paliperidone) were simulated on the basis of published popPK models with virtual populations of 5000 patients.

Through horizontal gene transfer, closely related bacterial strains assimilate distinct sets of genes, resulting in significantly varied lifestyles. However, it remains unclear how strains properly regulate horizontally transferred virulence genes. We hypothesized that strains may use components of the core genome to regulate diverse horizontally acquired genes.

Introduction: Peatlands store up to a third of global soil carbon, and in high latitudes their litter inputs are increasing and changing in composition under climate change. Although litter significantly influences peatland carbon and nutrient dynamics by changing the overall lability of peatland organic matter, the physicochemical mechanisms of this impact-and thus its full scope-remain poorly understood.
Methods: We applied multimodal metabolomics (UPLC-HRMS, H NMR) paired with C Stable Isotope-Assisted Metabolomics (SIAM) to track litter carbon and its potential priming effects on both existing soil organic matter and carbon gas emissions.

Tropical rainforests support critical biogeochemical cycles regulated by complex plant-soil microbial interactions but are threatened by global change. Much of the uniquely biodiverse and carbon rich forest on Borneo has been lost through extensive conversion to monoculture plantation, and a significant proportion of the remaining forest has been heavily modified by selective logging. Ecological restoration of tropical forest aims to return forests to a near pristine state, but restoration initiatives are hindered by limited understanding of the underpinning plant-soil feedbacks, and impacts on soil microbial communities are unresolved.
