Selective sentinel lymph node biopsy (SNLB) is the standard method for detecting regional metastases in breast cancer patients. Identifying affected axillary lymph nodes before neoadjuvant treatment is crucial, as such treatment may alter drainage pathways and lymph node morphology, hindering the identification of sentinel lymph nodes. The use of carbon-based tattooing on sentinel lymph nodes (SLN) has been employed as a permanent tattooing method in clinical studies of Targeted Axillary Dissection (TAD), aiding in the SLN identification during surgery. Our study introduces a new method of lymph node tattooing based on poly lactic-co-glycolic (PLGA) particles with encapsulated carbon. This strategy substantially improves tattooing efficiency over single carbon suspensions currently used in clinical studies. We synthesized and characterized carbon-loaded PLGA micro- and nanoparticles, experimentally assessing their biological impact on porcine lymph nodes. The effect of particles' size and concentration was evaluated over time (from 1 to 16 weeks). Light and electron microscopy studies were conducted to characterize the cellular effects induced by the presence of these particles. Our findings reveal that the diverse physicochemical parameters of the particles interact differently with the lymphatic tissue, influencing their biodistribution within the lymph nodes and the intensity of the inflammatory response.

Background: Thyroid nodules (TNs) are frequent and often benign. Accurately differentiating between benign and malignant nodules is crucial for proper management. This research aims to use ultrasonography to examine TNs and identify possible risk factors in order to improve patient outcomes and diagnostic accuracy.

Advances in the immunometabolism field have shown that infiltrated immune cells play a pivotal role in the development and function of thermogenic adipose tissue (TAT), including brown and beige fat. However, scarce research has focused on the role that organized lymphoid structures, like lymph nodes and lymphatics vessels, may exert on TAT. In this review we summarize the evidence suggesting that a significant link exists between the lymphoid tissues and adipose tissue, and we describe the most important in vitro and in vivo findings indicating that organized lymphoid tissues also play an important role in TAT biogenesis and function, raising relevant questions which are still unsolved in this emerging field.

We report 35 patients who had a leukemic phase of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma/high-grade B-cell lymphoma with MYC and BCL2 rearrangements, also known as double-hit lymphoma (DHL). There were 23 men and 12 women with a median age of 57 years (range, 29-82). Eight patients had an established DHL diagnosis and later developed a leukemic phase of disease and 27 presented with DHL and a leukemic phase of disease at initial diagnosis.

Introduction: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), originates primarily from lymph nodes, with a small proportion arising extranodally in sites such as the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. Given the general absence of lymphoid tissue in the bladder, primary bladder DLBCL is exceptionally rare.
Case Presentation: This case report describes an 83-year-old male patient with a bladder mass, initially suspected as cystitis glandularis, ultimately diagnosed via pathological examination as DLBCL.

Background: Metastases in the lateral pelvic lymph nodes or mesenteric lymph nodes represent distinct categories of mid-low rectal cancer. This study investigated the patterns of mesenteric and lateral pelvic lymph node metastases in mid-low rectal cancer; the survival benefit of postoperative treatment was also analysed in these groups.
Methods: This retrospective multicentre study included consecutive patients with mid-low rectal cancer who underwent total mesorectal excision with lateral pelvic lymph node dissection in three Chinese institutions between 2012 and 2020.
