Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) imposes a significant economic and social burden on patients and their families. High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) is reported to have protective effects on cognitive function in older adults. This study assesses the effects of HDL-C during the acute period of stroke on PSCI.

Background: Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is characterized by high incidence, sudden onset, and often poor prognosis. Carotid atherosclerosis plays a crucial role in its pathogenesis, and ultrasound imaging offers a non-invasive method for evaluating carotid plaque characteristics. This study aimed to develop and validate a prediction model for AIS risk based on a novel ultrasound-based carotid plaque scoring system combined with clinical risk factors.

Objectives: Dyslipidemia is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Traditional treatments often focus on pharmacological interventions; however, alternative therapies, such as hot spring and sauna use, have recently gained attention because of their potentially beneficial effects on lipid profiles and cardiovascular health.
Design And Setting: This systematic review aimed to synthesize current evidence on the efficacy of hot spring and sauna use, alone or combined with exercise therapy, in improving blood lipid profiles, with a focus on mechanisms, benefits, and limitations.

This study evaluated the effect of a nutraceutical supplementation (NS) and Mediterranean hypocaloric diet (MHD) on hepatic steatosis indices (HSIs), γ-glutamyl transferase (γGT), and lipid profile in adults with hyperlipidemia and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In vitro study on HepG2 cells explored potential molecular mechanisms. A retrospective study was conducted on 45 overweight/obese subjects (19 M) prescribed MHD with/without NS.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent environmental pollutants increasingly implicated in cardiometabolic risk. This study evaluates the association between serum PFAS exposure and lipid dysregulation, focusing on low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), a key cardiovascular risk factor. We analyzed 998 adults from the 2017 to 2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), representing a weighted sample of 240 million US adults.
