Biliary tract cancer (BTC) is a rare but aggressive malignancy that requires surgical treatment. However, postoperative recurrence rates are high, and reliable predictors of recurrence are limited. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in predicting early recurrence after curative surgery and complete adjuvant therapy in patients with BTC. Twenty-four patients who underwent R0 and R1 resections and completed adjuvant therapy for BTC between September 2019 and March 2022 were followed up until March 2024. Patients were categorized into early recurrence (ER) and non-ER groups, using one year as the cutoff for recurrence. The combination score derived from ultrashort fragments of cfDNA, vimentin-positive CTCs, and carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9 levels showed a statistically significant difference between the ER and non-ER groups (-value < 0.001). The receiver operating characteristic curve from the combination score and CA 19-9 levels yielded areas under the curve of 0.891 and 0.750, respectively. Although further research is required, these findings suggest that cfDNA and CTCs may increase the accuracy of predicting postoperative recurrence in patients with BTC.

Introduction: This study aimed to examine the impact of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection on the occurrence and prognosis of Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP).
Methodology: A total of 120 children diagnosed with HSP were selected as the experimental group, and 100 healthy children who underwent physical examinations were the control group. We compared renal function markers and quantified 24-hour urine protein in HSP children with different EBV infection statuses, and analyzed the association between EBV infection and Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN).

Since the 2013-2014 Ebola virus disease outbreak, Guinea has faced recurrent epidemics of viral hemorrhagic fevers. Although the country has learned from these epidemics by improving its disease surveillance and investigation capacities, local authorities and stakeholders, including community actors, are not sufficiently involved in the disease-emergence response. As a result, measures are not fully understood and have failed to engage local stakeholders.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a relatively rare disease. This article explores the clinicopathological features, differential diagnosis, and biological characteristics of Langerhans cell histiocytosis. A comprehensive analysis was conducted on the clinical data, clinical characteristics, histological observations, immunohistochemical studies, pathological features, treatment, and prognosis of one case of Langerhans cell histiocytosis occurring in the temporal bone, to enhance clinical understanding of this disease.

Background And Aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), remain heterogeneous disorders with variable response to biologics. Post-operative recurrence in CD is common despite surgery and prophylactic biotherapies. Understanding the inflammatory mediators associated with recurrence and treatment response could pave the way for personalized strategies.

Objectives: To evaluate the onset, frequency and time loss impact of recurrent calf muscle strain injuries in elite male Australian football players over a decade. To explore how outcomes are affected by alternative recurrence definitions.
Method: Calf muscle strain injuries were reported to the Soft Tissue Injury Registry of the Australian Football League (2014-2023).
