Purpose: This study explored the feasibility of implementing an individualised vocabulary intervention for dual language learners through teachers, who leverage their knowledge about their students to address each child's diverse needs.
Method: Participants were 32 Cantonese-English pre-school dual language learners and 16 teacher implementers from eight classrooms of a Head Start Programme. During the 3-week programme, teacher implementers were given an individualised set of 12 target words for each student. Implementation was measured using daily logs, questionnaires, and interviews. Children's immediate word learning was reported by teachers and word retention was measured two weeks after the intervention.
Result: Teacher implementers were able to teach the individual target words to each participant in one-on-one interactive sessions 94% of the time. Various teaching strategies were used along with culturally relevant teaching materials. On average, children learned 92% of the target words and retained 42% of the target words.
Conclusion: The study highlights the practicability of implementing an individualised intervention programme by harnessing teachers' knowledge of the children they work with. The results have implications for building a high-quality and culturally-responsive intervention programme for dual language learners.

This study quantitatively evaluated the adsorption performance of natural bentonite for removing three dye classes-cationic (Basic dye: BEZACRYL RED GRL), anionic (Reactive dye: AVITERA LIGHT RED SE), and non-ionic (Disperse dye: BEMACRON BLUE HP3R) from synthetic textile wastewater. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted under varying conditions of contact time (15-90 min), adsorbent dosage (20-60 g L⁻), pH (4 and 12), and temperature (25-100 °C), with dye concentrations quantified by UV-Vis spectroscopy. At a contact time of 30 min and room temperature (25 °C), maximum removal efficiencies reached 99.

Prior researches on global-local processing have focused on hierarchical objects in the visual modality, while the real-world involves multisensory interactions. The present study investigated whether the simultaneous presentation of auditory stimuli influences the recognition of visually hierarchical objects. We added four types of auditory stimuli to the traditional visual hierarchical letters paradigm:no sound (visual-only), a pure tone, a spoken letter that was congruent with the required response (response-congruent), or a spoken letter that was incongruent with it (response-incongruent).

As a naturally derived biomacromolecule, chitosan is widely utilized in food preservation. However, the chitosan derived from silkworm pupae and its application in food preservation are relatively unexplored. To obtain chitosan with enhanced preservation properties, silkworm pupae chitosan was extracted using dual-frequency ultrasound-assisted chemical and enzymatic methods, followed by a comparative analysis of their physicochemical properties, biological activity, and preservation efficacy on strawberries.

Cross-modal hashing aims to leverage hashing functions to map multimodal data into a unified low-dimensional space, realizing efficient cross-modal retrieval. In particular, unsupervised cross-modal hashing methods attract significant attention for not needing external label information. However, in the field of unsupervised cross-modal hashing, there are several pressing issues to address: (1) how to facilitate semantic alignment between modalities, and (2) how to effectively capture the intrinsic relationships between data, thereby constructing a more reliable affinity matrix to assist in the learning of hash codes.

In the context of China's collectivist culture, this study examines how parental educational support influences the academic self-efficacy of middle school students (ages 13-16) in Fujian Province. Drawing on ecological systems theory, achievement emotion theory, and self-determination theory, the research situates parental support within the microsystem, teacher support in the mesosystem, and enjoyment as an achievement emotion bridging external support and students' internal beliefs. A dual-mediation model was tested using structural equation modeling with data from 507 students.
