The quest for sustainable and clean energy sources has led to significant research into photocatalytic water splitting, a process that converts solar energy into hydrogen fuel. This study demonstrates constructing a high-performance CdTe/CN van der Waals heterojunction for solar-driven water splitting hydrogen evolution. The proposed CdTe/CN heterojunction, investigated using first-principles calculations, integrates favorable structural stability and features a direct bandgap of 1.

Effect of pH and Particle Charge on the Interfacial Properties of Biocatalytic Pickering Emulsions─Where Are the Enzymes Located?

Process Engineering in Life Science Engineering, HTW Berlin, Wilhelminenhofstraße 75 A, 12459 Berlin, Germany.

Pickering emulsions (PEs), where water-in-oil (w/o) droplets are stabilized by nanoparticles (NPs), offer a promising platform for biocatalysis by providing a large interfacial area crucial for efficient substrate conversion. While several lipase catalyzed reactions in PEs have been demonstrated, the exact interfacial structure is unknown. This study focuses on the interfacial network formed by NPs and lipase (CRL) at the octanol/water-interface by varying pH and NP charge.

Electrochemistry-Accelerated Water-Gas Shift Reaction on IrN-RhN Dual Sites Catalysts for Efficient Hydrogen Production.

The water-gas shift reaction (WGSR) is crucial to the hydrogen economy, which is hampered by the harsh conditions and complicated purification process. In this work, the spatially separated efficient CO conversion and high-purity H production are realized by electrochemistry-accelerated water-gas shift reaction (WGSR) with IrN-RhN dual sites single atom catalysts (IrRh-NC) in high-temperature polymer-electrolyte-membrane electrolyzer. In this reaction, the Ir single atoms in the catalysts can rapidly dissociate HO at an extremely low potential to supply abundant *OH, which ensures the *OH groups bind to the spontaneously adsorbed *CO on neighboring Rh sites to further accelerate CO conversion.

In the event of an accident at a nuclear fuel handling facility, the wounds of the affected workers may be contaminated with actinides such as uranium, neptunium, plutonium, and americium. The accidental absorption of actinides from wounds can lead to a significant degree of internal radiation exposure, which can be hazardous to the human body. Although the current approach for identifying actinide contamination is based on the detection of α-particles, the applicability of this approach is reduced for wound contamination due to the α-particles being easily shielded by various components of bodily fluid.

The p-π conjugated polymers have garnered considerable interest owing to their distinctive electronic structures, which arise from the interaction between p orbitals and π electrons. Currently, the p-π conjugated polymers with charged side chains have been extensively studied, those featuring charged backbones are rare due to the synthetic difficulties. In this work, we developed a spontaneous amino-yne click polymerization utilizing pyridinium-activated alkyne and aromatic primary amine monomers, enabling the efficient synthesis of p-π conjugated ionic polymers with high weight-average molecular weights ( , up to 44 100) and excellent yields (up to 98%).
