Feline norovirus (FNoV) is a potential pathogen of feline gastroenteritis and has two genogroups (GIV and GVI). Few epidemiological studies have been conducted on FNoV. We designed two enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) to identify genogroup-specific FNoV antibodies for serological surveillance. Analysis of sera from cats experimentally infected with FNoV GIV or GVI and from specific-pathogen-free (SPF) cats confirmed that the two recombinant proteins used in the assay react in a genogroup-specific manner. Of the 183 samples tested, 6.6% were positive for GIV and 26.2% were positive for GVI. Antibodies to both FNoV genogroups were detected in sera collected in 2005, seven years before FNoV was first reported.

Cryptosporidiosis is one of the main causes of fatal watery diarrhea, especially in immunocompromised patients worldwide. Although nitazoxanide (NTZ) is the only effective FDA approved drug for cryptosporidiosis, it is partially effective in immunocompromised patients. So, there is an urgent need for new alternatives for treating cryptosporidiosis in those patients.

Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) affects the respiratory, urogenital and reproductive systems of chickens and causes major economic losses. Biosecurity and vaccinations are used to limit the disease's impact, and identifying the circulating strains is important for selecting appropriate vaccines. The partial spike (S1) genes of 364 IBVs, isolated from commercial chickens in Botswana, Eswatini, Namibia and South Africa from 2010 to 2020, were phylogenetically analyzed.

The lungs are constantly subjected to enormous amounts of air and potentially transmitted agents, leading to a high incidence of severe and complex ailments urging the demand for defensive actions to maintain their regular function. Numerous studies have demonstrated how certain probiotics have many advantages including hindering pulmonary exacerbations in individuals with cystic fibrosis, which encourages the idea of combining them with approved antibiotics as a therapeutic choice for treatment patients with lung fibrosis who also have bacterial infections. This investigation aimed to test the possibility of a combination of Torulaspora delbrueckii as a probiotic with ciprofloxacin in an animal model having pulmonary fibrosis with a moderate load of Klebsiella pneumonia.

Noroviruses consist of ten genogroups, five of which (GI, GII, GIV, GVIII, GIX) infect humans. Noroviruses are traditionally classified based on the VP1 (genotype), RdRP (P-type), or dual-typing nomenclature. However, current classifications solely relying on specific proteins may be insufficient to represent the evolutionary history due to their recombination events.

A common heavy metal in many facets of daily life is aluminum (AlCl3), which can be found in food, toothpaste, cosmetics, food additives, and numerous pharmaceutical items. The hippocampus, liver, and kidneys have the highest concentrations of this powerful neurotoxin, which also accumulates over time and contributes to the development of a number of cognitive disorders. Long-term overconsumption of AlCl3 results in hepatic and renal toxicity as well as neuronal inflammation.
