Article Abstract

In this study we assessed the construct validity of the recently published White Racial Affect Scale (Grzanka et al., 2020). Specifically, we assessed the convergent, criterion-related, and incremental evidence for construct validity of the White guilt, White shame, and White defensiveness (called "White negation" in the original article) factors. We used a video stimulus to trigger state guilt and shame in participants as part of the construct validity investigation. White adults in the United States signed up for the study online ( = 262) and watched a 5-min video stimulus and completed questionnaires before and after the video. Results of this study replicated many of the findings from the original White Racial Affect Scale validation study (Grzanka et al., 2020). We found strong evidence of construct validity for the White guilt and White defensiveness factors and mixed evidence for the White shame factor. We discuss directions for future research and implications for potential interventions. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved).

Background: Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide, with its prognosis influenced by factors such as tumor clinical stage, histological type, and the patient's overall health. Recent studies highlight the critical role of lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) in the tumor microenvironment. Perturbations in LEC function in gastric cancer, marked by aberrant activation or damage, disrupt lymphatic fluid dynamics and impede immune cell infiltration, thereby modulating tumor progression and patient prognosis.

Background: Current scoring systems for hypertriglyceridaemia-induced acute pancreatitis (HTG-AP) severity are few and lack reliability. The present work focused on screening predicting factors for HTG-SAP, then constructing and validating the visualization model of HTG-AP severity by combining relevant metabolic indexes.

Methods: Between January 2020 and December 2024, retrospective clinical information for HTG-AP inpatients from Weifang People's Hospital was examined.

RNA-protein interactions critically regulate gene expression and cellular processes, yet their comprehensive mapping remains challenging due to their structural diversity. We introduce PRIM-seq (protein-RNA interaction mapping by sequencing), a method for concurrent de novo identification of RNA-binding proteins and their associated RNAs. PRIM-seq generates unique chimeric DNA sequences by proximity ligation of RNAs with protein-linked DNA barcodes, which are subsequently decoded through sequencing.

Ado-trastuzumab is considered a standard treatment for patients with HER2+ metastatic breast cancer (mBC). Current clinical practices do not reliably predict therapeutic outcomes for patients who are refractory to therapy. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as critical regulators of gene expression and therapeutic resistance, and the use of lncRNAs as tumor biomarkers is becoming more common in other diseases.

Visceral adiposity has been proposed to be closely linked to cognitive impairment. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of Chinese Visceral Adiposity Index (CVAI) for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and to develop a quantitative risk assessment model. A total of 337 hospitalized patients with T2DM were included and randomly assigned to a training cohort (70%, n = 236) and a validation cohort (30%, n = 101).
