Aim: Lung ultrasound (LU) and clinical parameters evaluated during the first postnatal hour potentially predict the length of CPAP therapy in newborns with respiratory distress.
Methods: In a single-centre, prospective observational pilot study, 130 newborns ≥36 weeks gestational age were assessed using standardised LU at 30 and 60 min postnatally. Various clinical parameters were evaluated influencing CPAP duration (<1 vs. ≥1 h) using univariate and multivariate analyses.
Results: Lung ultrasound score >5, FiO > 0.21 and respiratory acidosis 30 min postnatally were associated with CPAP ≥1 h. Our model showed good diagnostic quality (ROC AUC = 0.87) and was confirmed by classification and regression tree (CART) analysis. Additional LU findings like double lung point and pleural line abnormalities were frequently observed, with good interrater reliability for LU interpretation (ICC = 0.76-0.77).
Conclusion: Newborns with postnatal respiratory distress at risk for prolonged CPAP therapy can be identified based on specific LU and clinical parameters assessed 30 min postnatally. Despite the need for validation in an independent sample, these findings may lay the groundwork for a prediction tool. LU proved feasible and reliable for assessing respiratory status in this population, highlighting potential utility in clinical practice.

It is helpful for diagnostic purposes to improve our current knowledge of gut development and serum biochemistry in young piglets. This study investigated serum biochemistry, and gut site-specific patterns of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) and expression of genes related to barrier function, innate immune response, antioxidative status and sensing of fatty and bile acids in suckling and newly weaned piglets. The experiment consisted of two replicate batches with 10 litters each.

IntroductionTo investigate the effectiveness of the remote video-based Strengthening and Stretching for Rheumatoid Arthritis of the Hand (SARAH) exercise program in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with wrist involvement.MethodsSeventy-three individuals were included in the study. Wrist joint position sense, wrist joint range of motion, wrist pain, wrist morning stiffness, subjective and objective hand function, grip strength, and disease-related health status were assessed at baseline and after 12 weeks.

Introduction: Pharmacokinetic differences between long-acting injectable antipsychotic (LAI) formulations, combined with a lack of clinical switch studies, contribute to clinician uncertainty when transitioning between LAIs. This analysis employed a population pharmacokinetic (popPK) modeling approach to characterize dosing conversions and switching strategies from intramuscular paliperidone palmitate once monthly (PP1m) to TV-46000, a long-acting subcutaneous formulation of risperidone, once monthly (q1m), with a secondary analysis of PP1m to TV-46000 every 2 months (q2m).
Methods: For PP1m and TV-46000, concentration-time profiles for paliperidone and TV-46000 total active moiety (TAM; risperidone + paliperidone) were simulated on the basis of published popPK models with virtual populations of 5000 patients.

Zebrafish models have been used to research Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders because of their similarities to the human genetic composition and behavior. Researchers have detected iron accumulation in the post-mortem brain sections of neurodegenerative disorder patients. Therefore, the development an animal model to simulate these clinical pathological findings is important.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the prognostic performance of a nomogram integrating clinical parameters with deep learning radiomics (DLRN) features derived from ultrasound and multi-sequence magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for predicting survival, recurrence, and metastasis in patients diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).
Methods: This retrospective, multicenter study included 103 patients with histopathologically confirmed TNBC across four institutions. The training group comprised 72 cases from the First People's Hospital of Lianyungang, while the validation group included 31 cases from three external centers.
