The proportion of intracranial aneurysms treated by microsurgical clip ligation has drastically decreased in the endovascular era. However, some aneurysms cannot be treated by current endovascular techniques. Therefore, trainees and young vascular neurosurgeons must develop and maintain microsurgical skills to safely treat aneurysms that require surgery.

Impact of river discharge seasonality change on tidal duration asymmetry in the Yangtze River Estuary.

Sci Rep

April 2020

Hydrology and Quantitative Water Management Group, Wageningen University & Research, Droevendaalsesteeg 3, 6708, Wageningen, The Netherlands.

The Yangtze River Estuary (YRE) is one of the world's largest river-tidal systems with rapidly changing hydrology and morphology following the construction of multiple dams. The effects of dam construction may extend to the region close to the coast, where channel stability depends on the asymmetry of the tide. Here, we focus on the possible effects of changing discharge regimes on tidal asymmetry in the YRE.

: The accurate assessment of sleep is critical to better understand and evaluate its role in health and disease. The boom in wearable technology is part of the digital health revolution and is producing many novel, highly sophisticated and relatively inexpensive consumer devices collecting data from multiple sensors and claiming to extract information about users' behaviors, including sleep. These devices are now able to capture different biosignals for determining, for example, HR and its variability, skin conductance, and temperature, in addition to activity.

Evaluating the impact of dredging strategies at tidal inlets: Performance assessment.

Sci Total Environ

March 2019

Andalusian Institute for Earth System Research, University of Granada, Avda. del Mediterráneo, s/n, 18006 Granada, Spain.

Despite relevant advances achieved in recent years, sediment transport and sedimentation problems at tidal inlets are still worldwide issues to be addressed. Furthermore, dredging strategies are carried out following traditional layouts, such as channel deepening, lasting short periods of time despite the high economic expenditures and the potential environmental impacts. This work proposes a new dredging strategy for tidal inlets and analyzes its morphodynamic evolution by means of numerical modeling.
