3-hydroxy isobutyl-CoA hydrolase (HIBCH) deficiency is a recently described, rare inborn error of valine metabolism associated with a Leigh syndrome-like phenotype, neurodegenerative symptoms, and caused by recessive mutations in the HIBCH gene. We report the most severe case to date of an intrauterine growth-restricted term male who presented with severe acidosis and a high anion gap soon after birth. The manifestation was fatal that led to death within 36 hours of life. The diagnosis was made postnatally by Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS). We report a rapid and fatal event of HIBCN in a neonate and review of the literature.

A CoO/AgMoO/CeOternary nanocomposites photocatalyst was successfully synthesized through a straightforward ethanol-assisted chemical method. Comprehensive characterization of its structural and optical properties was conducted using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), and photoluminescence (PL) analysis. XRD analysis confirmed the presence of CoO, AgMoO and CeO in the ternary composite sample.

A triphenyl-imidazole end-capped donor-acceptor type potential molecular probe 3 has been designed and synthesized. Probe 3 upon interaction with different classes of metal ions/anions and NPPs displayed high selectivity with CN anion (LOD = 20.42 nM) through fluorescence "turn-Off" response and a naked-eye sensitive visible color change.

Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is vital for effective optimization of pharmacological treatments. In this study, we engineered a chromatography column that is sensitive to temperature fluctuations, thereby enabling safe and straightforward TDM without relying on organic solvents. Silica beads were modified by applying poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) hydrogels, using a condensation reaction to modify the initiator, followed by radical polymerization to integrate the PNIPAAm hydrogel.

Plant water potential is one of the most frequently measured variables of plant water status. Stem water potential, often approximated by wrapping the leaves, is assumed to be more stable and a better measure of drought stress than leaf water potential. In wheat (Triticum aestivum L.

We report a novel and highly effective UV-Vis sensing platform based on plasmonic copper (II) sulfide-capsulated polystyrene nanoparticles (PS@CuS NPs) for the rapid, ultrasensitive, and selective detection of Hg . The detection mechanism is driven by a specific anion-exchange reaction between Hg and CuS, resulting in the in-situ transformation of plasmonic CuS into non-plasmonic HgS, which induces a distinct and quantifiable shift in UV-Vis absorption. This structural and optical evolution enables the platform to achieve an exceptionally low detection limit of 20 pM within just 5 min, far below most regulatory thresholds, and a wide linear detection range from 20 pM to 30 nM.
