To study the clinical spectrum and recovery patterns in patients of acquired isolated ocular motor nerve palsies (OMNPs). Patients above 5 years of age with various etiologies of OMNPs were included. Demographic and ocular details were recorded, and a squint assessment was performed. Recovery patterns at 3 and 6 months were noted. OMNP was more common in adults, in the order VI > III > IV nerve. Ischemic cause (35%) was followed by idiopathic (26.3%). III nerve palsies were all unilateral, of which all ischemic palsies were pupil-sparing. By 6 months, >50 patients showing complete recovery had ischemic and idiopathic palsies. Smaller baseline deviation correlated with better recovery. Acquired isolated OMNPs are mostly ischemia-related, with >80% of cases fully recovering by 6 months. VI nerve palsy of ischemic or idiopathic etiology and small baseline deviation were associated with self-recovery.

Background: Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) predominantly manifests with gait disturbances, yet clinical assessments are vulnerable to confirmation bias, particularly post-shunt surgery. Blinded video evaluations are a method to enhance objectivity in gait assessment, but their reliability has never been systematically investigated. The aim was to evaluate the inter-rater reliability of blinded gait assessments in iNPH patients and to investigate how these assessments correlate with the Hellström iNPH scale and patient-reported health status following shunt surgery.

Objectives: Sport-related concussions are a global health concern. Athletes consistently underreport sport-related concussions, and knowledge and attitudes about sport-related concussions vary between levels of sport competition and according to a range of factors. It is unclear how concussion knowledge and attitudes relate to reporting behaviours amongst community sport athletes.

Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the effectiveness of lumbo-pelvic-hip complex strengthening and/or stabilisation exercises, with and without isolated pelvic floor muscle training, on postpartum pelvic floor health. Specifically, effects on pelvic floor muscle strength, endurance, activity, and pelvic floor dysfunction symptom severity were analysed.
Design: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials was conducted.

Identifying and predicting the catastrophic failure of brittle rock remains a challenging task, yet it is crucial for developing early warning systems and preventing dynamic rock hazards. In this study, we employed the propagative parameters of ultrasonic waves and information from acoustic emission (AE) events to characterize the brittle failure of a flawed sandstone sample under uniaxial compression. A sliding event window method was developed to obtain the temporal b-value, effectively revealing microcrack growth based on the frequency-magnitude distribution of AE events.

Tire wear particles (TWP) represent a significant source of marine microplastic pollution and have been shown to pose a considerable threat to marine organisms. In this study, the marine rotifer Brachionus plicatilis was employed as a model organism to systematically assess the effects of micron-sized and nano-sized TWP, as well as their leachates, on rotifer behavior, and underlying molecular mechanisms. The results revealed that TWP exposure significantly reduced rotifer motility, evidenced by decreased swimming speed and acceleration.
