Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of organic salts with melting points below 100°C. Owing to their unique chemical and physical properties, they are used as solvents and catalysts in various chemical transformations, progressively replacing common volatile organic solvents (VOCs) in green synthetic applications. However, their intrinsic ionic nature can restrict the use of mass spectrometric techniques to monitor the time progress of a reaction occurring in an IL medium, thus preventing one from following the formation of the reaction products or intercepting the reaction intermediates.

Anomalous Origin of the Right Coronary Artery from the Left Main Coronary Artery in A Patient with Non-Specific Chest Pain.

Eur J Case Rep Intern Med

August 2025

Cardiac Sciences Division, Department of Medicine, King Abdulaziz Hospital, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA), Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia.

Unlabelled: Anomalous origin of the coronary arteries is a rare congenital condition that can present as non-specific chest pain or shortness of breath or remain asymptomatic. Early identification is critical as certain variants are linked with a high risk of sudden cardiac death. Here, we report the case of a 53-year-old female with hypertension, hypothyroidism, obesity (class II) and a history of intermittent chest pain radiating to the left arm for two years.

Accurate differentiation between persistent vegetative state (PVS) and minimally conscious state and estimation of recovery likelihood in patients in PVS are crucial. This study analyzed electroencephalography (EEG) metrics to investigate their relationship with consciousness improvements in patients in PVS and developed a machine learning prediction model. We retrospectively evaluated 19 patients in PVS, categorizing them into two groups: those with improved consciousness ( = 7) and those without improvement ( = 12).

Background: Acupuncture and moxibustion (AM) are effective for pain relief and chronic disease management but carry risks of adverse events (AEs). Japan prioritizes AM safety, and Hiroshima University Hospital Kampo Clinical Center (HUHKCC) follows strict professional standards to ensure both safety and efficacy.

Objectives: The study analyzes AM-related AEs in Japan over the past decade, compares them with HUHKCC practices, and proposes risk mitigation strategies.

Progress in immunoregulatory mechanisms during distraction osteogenesis.

Front Bioeng Biotechnol

August 2025

Department of Orthopaedic and Reconstructive Surgery/Pediatric Orthopaedics, South China Hospital, Medical School, Shenzhen University, Shenzhen, China.

Distraction osteogenesis (DO) is an endogenous bone tissue engineering technique that harnesses the regenerative potential of bone and has been widely applied in limb lengthening, bone defect repair, and craniofacial reconstruction. The DO procedure consists of three distinct phases: the latency phase, the distraction phase, and the consolidation phase, each characterized by unique biological processes. In recent years, increasing attention has been directed toward the role of the immune system during DO.
