Article Abstract

Purpose: To determine whether individuals with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) have changes in whole-brain network characteristics and intracerebral node characteristics in the structural network, and whether there is a difference between SCD with and without Apolipoprotein E4 ().

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 36 individuals without SCD without (healthy control, HC group), 21 individuals with SCD with (APOEε4+ group), and 33 individuals with SCD without (APOEε4- group). The white matter structural network was constructed using the fractional anisotropy (FA) based deterministic fiber tracking method. Graph theory was used to analyze the whole-brain network characteristics and intracerebral node characteristics of the three groups.

Results: Regarding the whole-brain network characteristics, all three groups exhibited small-worldness in their structural networks. The clustering coefficient (Cp) and local efficiency (Eloc) in the APOEε4+ and APOEε4- groups were significantly lower than in the HC group ( < 0.05), but no significant difference in Cp or Eloc was observed between the APOEε4+ and APOEε4- groups. Regarding intracerebral node characteristics, there were significant differences in some brain regions, mainly the default mode network (DMN), the occipital lobe, the temporal lobe, and subcortical regions. The change in intracerebral node characteristics was different between the APOEε4+ group and the APOEε4- group.

Conclusions: Individuals with SCD demonstrate changes in whole-brain network characteristics and intracerebral node characteristics in the structural network. Moreover, differences exist between APOEε4+ and APOEε4- individuals.

Background: Secondary brain injury following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a critical clinical challenge, yet the molecular mechanisms driving neuronal damage remain poorly understood. This study investigates the role of the transcription factor ATF3 and its downstream effector, VASP, in mediating neuronal injury via the platelet activation pathways.

Methods: Differential gene expression analysis of the GSE24265 dataset was conducted using the limma package in R to identify key regulators in hemorrhagic conditions.

Objective: This study investigates the impact of basal ganglia intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) on default mode network (DMN) connectivity and its relationship with cognitive impairment using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI).

Method: DMN differences between left/right basal ganglia ICH patients and healthy controls were analyzed respectively. Co-altered brain region were obtained by overlapping the differential brain regions of bilateral basal ganglia ICH.

The precise and fleeting moment of rich recollection triggered by an environmental cue is difficult to reproduce in the lab. However, epilepsy patients can experience sudden reminiscences after intracranial electrical brain stimulation (EBS). In these cases, the transient brain state related to the activation of the engram and its conscious perception can be recorded using intracerebral EEG (iEEG).

The occurrence mechanism of intracerebral hemorrhage remains unclear. Several recent studies have highlighted the close relationship between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage, but the mechanisms of causal mediation are inconclusive. We aimed to investigate the causal relationships and potential mechanisms between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage.

Progression or relapse in the central nervous system (CNS) remains a rare but mostly fatal event for patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). In a retrospective analysis of 5189 patients treated within 19 prospective German and French phase 2/3 trials, we identified 159 patients experiencing a CNS event (relapse: 62%, progression: 38%). Intracerebral, meningeal, intraspinal, or combined involvement was reported in 44%, 31%, 3%, and 22% of patients, respectively.
