Thanks to a hemilabile amide-based binding site, a previously unreported amide-functionalized metal-organic framework (MOF) exhibits high acetylene affinity over ethylene, methane, and carbon dioxide, three-in-one.

Traditional catalyst optimization, based on the Sabatier principle, encounters performance limits due to the scaling relationship between binding energies for a series of adsorbates. This restriction prevents independent optimization of the reactant activation and product desorption. Single-atom catalysts (SACs) offer a unique advantage, with their ability to dynamically adjust the metal-support coordination environment.

A three-component coupling approach toward structurally complex dialkylsulfides is described via the nickel-catalyzed 1,2-carbosulfenylation of unactivated alkenes with organoboron nucleophiles and alkylsulfenamide (N-S) electrophiles. Efficient catalytic turnover is facilitated using a tailored N-S electrophile containing an N-methyl methanesulfonamide leaving group, allowing catalyst loadings as low as 1 mol %. Regioselectivity is controlled by a collection of monodentate, weakly coordinating native directing groups, including sulfonamides, amides, sulfinamides, phosphoramides, and carbamates.

Octahedral ruthenium(II) complexes of a xanthene-di(-heterocyclic carbene) ancillary ligand (XdC) have been prepared and structurally characterized. Examples catalyze the transfer hydrogenation of ketones {[Ru(CO)I(,,'-XdC)] () and [Ru(CO)(MeCN)(,,'-XdC)] ()} and the selective electrochemical reduction of CO to CO {[Ru(,'-bpy)(CO)(,,'-XdC)] () at 0.40 V overpotential in MeCN-HO (1 M)}.

Platinum-based drugs are commonly recognized as a keystone in modern cancer chemotherapy. However, intrinsic and acquired resistance as well as serious side effects often caused by the traditional Pt(II) anticancer agents prompt a continuous search for more selective and efficient alternatives. Today, significant attention is paid to the compounds of other transition metals, in particular those of palladium.
